On our first ever trek, we went to Nag Tibba - which is classified as easy trek - but didn't turn out to be so. We went on a weekend trip on 16th-17th February 2019 from Delhi.

About Nag Tibba

Nag Tibba ('Serpent's Peak'), 3,022 metres (9,915 ft), is the highest peak in the lesser Himalayan region of Uttarakhand state (Garhwal Division), and lends its name to the 'Nag Tibba Range', itself the next-northerly of the five folds of the Himalaya. It is situated 16 km (9.9 mi) away from Landour cantonment, and around 57 km from Mussoorie in Tehri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.
The trek to Nag Tibba starts from Devalsari where one can stay in the Forest Guest House by obtaining permission from the Mussoorie Forest office. Another way to reach Nag Tibba is from Shrikot,some 110km from Dehradun the trek is short from Shrikot compared to Pantwari and Devalsari and one can trek a further 5 km to Nag tibba top which offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Compared to it, from Shrikot the trek is only 6-7 km till the temple on the top. No accommodation is available at the place. The trail from Shrikot is clearly marked till the temple. The trek is easy to moderate level and take about 3-4 hours to reach the temple.Pantwari, some 100 km from Dehradun. The trek is short from Pantwari compared to Devalsari. Nag tibba is around 13 km from Devalsari and one can trek a further 3 km to Nag tibba top which offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas.

Nag tibba is a perfect weekend trek. Its relatively unknown, but for the 1st timer who want to climb 10,000ft, camp under starry night skies and walk on snow Nag Tibba trek is the perfect one. From the top bandarpoonch, swargarohini and gangotri group of peaks are very clear. I used to go to mountain, high altitude trek, but my dream was I want to be on top of the mountain with my friends.
When I told about Nag tibba to my friends they all became very excited, but afraid also as they never done any mountain trek. So, I tried hard to convince all my friend for Nag tibba. We finalize 8th January as our starting date......

About the Destination:
The panorama of the Himalayan snow peaks of Garhwal and Himachal offers views of some of the famous peaks from here including the Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Srikanth and Black peak. We saw magnificent views of Gujjar or shepherds dotting the envrons from the Nag Tibba Top.
Nag Tibba trek route is a circular trek where the finish point is different from the start point and at no time there is an overlap of trail. On your way down we went through a completely contrasting landscape having a dense mixed forest of Oak, Rhododendron, Cider and Alpine. Adding to the beauty of the trek is the opportunity to visit a couple of quaint villages which are extremely scenically situated amidst thick Deodar forests. Icing on the top would surely be the opportunity to dunk one's feet into a cold and inviting stream at the end of the trek.
Another great attraction of this trip is the camping experience. There are beautiful meadows and thick jungles along the trail offering numerous scenic camping locations. Nag Tibba trekking is suitable for people of all age groups having reasonable fitness levels who seek adventure

1.There is lack of water so my suggestion is to carry water with you
2. If you are new hire a guide coz we dint that led us to lost in forest at night (trust me you don't want it ) lol...
3. Dont cook any nonveg stuff coz smell can attract wild animals
4. After cooking keep all your food items a bit far from your camp ( coz u don't want any wild animal to disturb you at the middle of night for food )
5. Its hot when you climb but temperature can fall like crazy at night ( we went there around nov and experienced 0deg temp)

Things you may need while you trek to Nag Tibba!
(a) Trekking Shoes – they prevent ankle twist and have better grip
(b) Full sleeve T-shirts
(c) Full sleeve woolen
(d) Thick Jacket (for winter season)
(e) Socks (2 pairs): 1 cotton (for trekking) and 1 woolen (may need while sleeping)
(f) Gloves(1 pair for winter season)
(g) Woolen Cap/Balaclava(1 for winter season)
(h) Raincoat/Poncho
(i) Gaters - Prevent Snow from entering the shoes

Nag Tibba Summit Trek | Snow Trek | Uttarakhand (Part 2)
The journey from Nag Tibba Base camp to the summit was no easy feat. The path was covered in 3 feet deep snow and steep climbs made it more difficult. But, in the end, the view from the top was all well worth the effort.

नाग टिब्बा को ‘नाग देवता’ या सांपों के देवता का निवास माना जाता है, ‘टिब्बा’ पहाड़ी या शिखर के लिए एक स्थानीय शब्द है। यहाँ स्थानीय ग्रामीण अपने मवेशियों की सुरक्षा के लिए नाग देवता से प्रार्थना करने आते हैं। यह स्थान अपनी सुंदर सुंदरता के लिए ट्रेकर्स और साहसिक प्रेमियों द्वारा अक्सर देखा जाता है और 3048 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर है। सर्दियाँ सर्द हैं और गर्मियाँ सुखद होती हैं, जिससे यह शिविर के लिए एक आकर्षक स्थान बन जाता है। देहरादून से सड़क के जरिए इस स्थान तक पहुंचा जा सकता है। इस ट्रेक को करने के तीन रास्ते हैं देवलसारी से एक मार्ग और दूसरा श्रीकोट, तीसरा पंवारी से।
नाग टिब्बा का ट्रेक देवलसारी से शुरू होता है, जहाँ मसूरी वन कार्यालय से अनुमति प्राप्त करके वन गेस्ट हाउस में ठहर सकते हैं। नाग टिब्बा तक पहुँचने का दूसरा रास्ता श्रीकोट से है, देहरादून से कुछ 110 किमी दूर पंकोटवारी और देवलसारी की तुलना में श्रीकोट से ट्रेक छोटा है और एक और 5 किमी नाग टिब्बा टॉप तक जा सकते हैं जो हिमालय के मनोरम दृश्य प्रस्तुत करता है

For an alluring trekking destination for the weekends, Nag Tibba in the hinterlands of Garhwal is a ten on ten. With 9,915 ft maximum altitude, it is perfectly suitable for beginners and children, poses no threat of altitude sickness, offering a thoroughly enlivening trek instead. Anyone staying in and around Delhi can plan Nag Tibba- the highest peak of the Nag Tibba range in the Lesser Himalayas, for a rejuvenating weekend in the calm depths of forested mountains. With a couple of days added to the trek, “the queen of the hills” Mussoorie can be covered too.
Starting from Pantwari, a quiet hamlet in the vicinity of Dehradun-Mussoorie, the trek begins up a rocky ascent and after a couple of hours on the trail, enters the grove of oaks and rhododendrons. In warmer times on this path, you will be greeted with summer blossoms and greenery while winter comes with abundance of snow. The camping for the night is in a clearing at the edge of the forest, overlooking the undulations of the Lesser Himalayan green slopes expanding far and beyond. The trek goes on up to Nag Tibba base, marked by a temple dedicated to the serpent god, and from there to Nag Tibba top. The climax of the hike comes with the unveiling of a vision of the Gangotri group of peaks. From the high point of Nag Tibba, you can mark out Bandarpoonch, Kedarnath and Chanabang—all absolutely mesmerizing snow peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas!

An untouched Paradise in Uttarakhand. Nag Tibba is such a beautiful place. It is the highest peak (9915 ft) in the Nag Tibba range of the Garhwal Himalayas. The trek is full of dense forest yet it is awesome to explore once in a life time. Though it is unknown trail near Ponta Sahib.It can be easily considered one of the best weekend ride and treks for someone around Delhi.

Summer calls for new travel adventures and it was no different for us. Nag Tibba, a peak in Uttarakhand, known to be surrounded by scenic landscapes, was one of the best ways that we could get away from the summer heat and get in touch with Nature again. With blooming flowers, leaf beds, refreshing sunshine, green mountains, beautiful sunsets, tasty food, and an amazing group of people to travel with, this summer trek has been one experience that we highly recommend to all! After an overnight journey from Delhi NCR, we reached Pantwari village, Uttarakhand in the early morning(~5 am), people of the village are very kind, they helped us to find a guide and a hotel at that time. After refreshment, we started our trek around 9 O' clock in the morning, the distance of the base camp from the village is around 3.5 Kms.

Nagtibba, is a 4 hour trek from Panthwari village (3 hour journey from Dehradun, Uttrakhand) We went there in the month of June, onset of monsoon, it was one of the best trekking experience to me. The clouds gushing on my face, the neighing of wild horses and the nature at its best.
