Thirunageswaram ~ Rahu Parihara sthala
Thirunageswaram. This has been Lord Shiva temple, which has situated very near to Kumbakonam at Tamil Nadu, India. This temple has been featured for the parihara sthala for the shadow planet Rahu, which has been depicted as having human head with snake's body. In Hindu mythology, the planet Rahu has been considered as the main cause for one's ups and down in human life.
There has been the legend that the name reasoning for this sthala had been thrived from the worship done to lord Shiva of this sthala by the serpent king, Nagarajan who belonged to the nether world. As the serpent king Nagarajan had worshiped lord Shiva for his curse redemption, this presiding deity has been called as lord Naganatha swamy.

Thanjavur Temple Tour Video Travelogue - Part 1/4
After my 12th Standard board exams finished in March, 2007, mom, dad and me undertook a tour of more than 30-40 temples in and around Thanjavur and Thiruvarur districts, Tamilnadu, India. This hour-long video, one in a series of four, is a compilation of what we were able to capture using a Sony handycam, during the tour. So, this is a Temple Tour Video Travelogue of sorts.
Swamimalai, one of the six Holy Sites for Lord Subrahmanya, gets a special mention, and festivals such as Soora Samhaaram, Theppa Kulam and Golden Chariot are captured, since that is where the three of us ended up staying for the next two years.
Also noteworthy of mention is that this tour covered all the nine Navagraha temples - Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Kethu.
We have also covered all three Great Living Chola Temples - Thanjavur, Dharasuram and Gangai Konda Cholapuram, all three UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
