Running the paradise island of Tokashiki, Okinawa, Japan!
I took and early morning ferry from Naha to run the remote Okinawa island of Tokashiki. Its about about a 35 minute ride on the fast boat from Tomari Port, Naha to the ferry terminal of Tokashiki. There is also a slower car and passenger ferry later in the day. Tokashiki is an island located in the Kerama Shoto island chain. Its mostly mountainous with two main villages - Tokashiki port and Aharen village. There is a youth camp located on the north hills and a memorial to lost islanders lost in WW2. The coastal views are amazing with excellent facilities. Two main beaches are white sand paradise! Tokashiki Beach and Aharen Beach, both completely deserted during my visit in off season February, 2019. Beaches were completely mine and the water was warm enough to swim. The island is infested with Habu poisonous snakes, so off trail not recommended! I stayed in Marine House in Aharen village, everyone very friendly and welcoming. No resort hotels or luxury facilities. Nature. Fantastic place, recommend to runners and ocean lovers alike!!

Kouri Island has the longest open bridge in Okinawa. We miss our ferry to IE island and settle for bridges and beaches instead.
