Take me to Takamatsu - cultural and taste discoveries on the Seto Inland Sea
Take me to Takamatsu, Shikoku, where the islands of the Seto Inland Sea are the stunning backdrop for cultural and taste discoveries that will surprise and delight. Try some wasanbon, traditional sweets made from sugar local to the region, or take a walk around the famous Ritsurin Garden, where the view is said to change with every step. Or you can experience how life was in a Japanese village of traditional thatched houses at the Shikoku Mura village and then enjoy the local Sanuki udon noodles. Yashima castle ruins and the Yashima-ji Temple, part of the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage, are interesting cultural points on Yashima mountain, and the views from the top out over Seto Island Sea, with the islands stretching as far as the eye can see will inspire anyone to explore. Luckily Takamatsu is the perfect base to explore the art islands of the Seto Inland Sea, with Ogijima and Megijima only about a 40 minutes boat ride away.
