There is Yanagidani Kannon in Nagaokakyo city which is away from the center of Kyoto.
The Japanese garden is carefully kept and forgets to pass over time as I see it. There is a water gullfolk in the corridor that follows Okunoin, which is healed by this sound. Okyon is surrounded by greener and you can spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Uni is a small city between Kyoto and Nara that is very easy to do on your own. Stop by their tourist office to get a map and wander around or book a guide for $10 USD one week in advance for a four-hour tour. How easy is that!
Who knew that there were two UNESCO sights in Uji? Duh, not us since the group was there for a boring Japanese Tea Ceremony. Skip the tea, and walk to see all the ancient, wonderful sights in Uji.

Komyo-ji Temple is located in Hiratsuka City of Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan.
The main diety at this temple is Kaname Kannon.
Ponto Cho Street, Kyoto City
Ponto Cho or Ponto-Cho or PontoCho, as it is known; is a fun street/entertainment neighborhood in Kyoto City. It is located just before the Kamo River (if you are coming from Karasuma Street), on the banks of Kamo River, nestled between Shijo Street and Sanjo Street. Once the concrete banking was created on the Kamo River, this part of the Kamo River area, about the size of 600 meters long and 50 meters wide became initially a Geisha quarters in the 18th century and then later became a fun street with eating and drinking establishments in the 19th century. The Geisha quarters with tea houses and other entertainment do still exist but they are lot less adventurous than they were during the Edo Period.
Unlike other typical Japanese eating/drinking establishments, which may avoid foreign tourists, these places do cater to foreign tourists generously with english menus and in some places english speaking staff. There are places with live music with great ambiance. The restaurants facing the Kamo River have balconies extending out with outdoor dining areas.
Even though the street is 50 meters wide, most of the area is taken by the restaurants, so there is a narrow walkway and is usually crowded by people and tourists in the evenings. Most of them may be just taking pictures out of curiosity but some of them do venture into the restaurants to enjoy the food and music.
The entrance to Ponto Cho can be easily missed if you are looking for it because of the small entrance to it, so if you are looking for it and cannot find it, asking anybody over there and they will direct you to it.

It was a cold December evening 6C with a 14kmph breeze making feel like 3C, it felt even colder around Bambio which has some of the tallest buildings in Nagaokakyo near by.

Mangetsuji Temple with famous Ukimido (Floating Temple) Hall, Katata Ward, Shiga Prefecture
Mangetsuji Temple is a zen temple located in Katata Ward of Shiga Prefecture (Kansai Region) in Japan. Mangetsuji Temple is known for the Ukimido Hall which is built on the shores of lake Biwa (Biwa-ko) on the water. When the water is full this hall seems like floating on the water.
Mangetsuji is a small temple but the gorgeous views of the Lake Biwa and it's surroundings makes it a very popular temple to visit in Shiga Prefecture. The Ukimido is said to house about 1000 Amida Buddha statues in a small space.
The beautiful views of Shiga Prefecture and Lake Biwa, were subject to eight paintings to the famous Ukiyo-e Painter of Japan, Hiroshige. These paintings are known as Eights Views of Omi. Omi being the ancient name for Shiga Prefecture. One of the paints features the Geese returning home on Lake Biwa with the Ukimido Hall in the background. It is a beautiful painting along with the other seven views of Omi.
