Aboard Kyushu's Kamome Train from Nagasaki to Hakata
Scenic ride aboard this beautiful Nagasaki-Hakata train especially when it hugs the coastline of the Ariake Sea.
Japan Nagasaki Tour and Adventure
It's the day I visited Nagasaki, Japan, during a port stop while cruising some Asian countries. The adventure takes me riding the streetcar to exploring the Atomic Bomb Museum, Urakami Cathedral, Mt Inasa, Peace Park, Spectacle Bridge, Observatories, and more.
Nagasaki in Japan Japanology 長崎市
Nagasaki (長崎市 Nagasaki-shi, Japanese: [naɡaꜜsaki]) is the capital and the largest city of Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan. The city's name, 長崎, means Long Cape in Japanese. Nagasaki became a centre of colonial Portuguese and Dutch influence in the 16th through 19th centuries, and Churches and Christian Sites in Nagasaki have been proposed for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Part of Nagasaki was home to a major Imperial Japanese Navy base during the First Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War.
During World War II, the American atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki made Nagasaki the second and, to date, last city in the world to experience a nuclear attack.
As of 1 March 2017, the city has an estimated population of 425,723 and a population density of 1,000 people per km². The total area is 406.35 km2 (156.89 sq mi)

Railways of Japan 2018: Hakodate Trams
A film featuring the small but interesting tram network of Hakodate, Japan. Two routes, 2 and 5, complete the network and a variety of trams provide the service. Filmed on 6 August 2018. The Making of... can be read at
Nagasaki Tram 1054 .wmv
Sydney Tramway Museum's tram from Japan.
Sydney Tramway Museum (LOUD Traction Motor) Nagasaki Electric Tramways 1054
Livery: Old Nagasaki Electric Tramways - White and Dark Green
Age at time of filming: 66 Years
Class: 1050
Number in class: Unknown
Depot(s) served - Sendai, Nagasaki
Destination Display: Unknown ( I can't read Japanese)
Motors: Unknown.
Something a bit different this time. Nagasaki 1054 is seen between the Sydney Tramway Museum and Sutherland North Terminus.
This tram was built in Japan in 1952 by Niigata Iron Works for the Sendai Tramway. This tram was then sold to Nagasaki in 1976 after the Sendai Tramway was replaced by metro. This tram was retired in the late 80s or early 90s.
A few fun facts about this tram:
1. As you may know this tram was involved in an accident with J 675 which put it out of service for about two years. This may be its first day back in service.
2. This tram does not have a bell only a horn which sounds the same at the ones used on the red rattlers.
3. This was one of two trams which were given to Australia as bicentennial gifts the other being PCC 1014
This tram has a loud traction motor for a tram which you can hear more clearly towards the end of the video at about the 3:30 mark. I don't know what class of tram this is so if anyone knows please place it in the comments below. The interior of this tram looks pretty much like an old Japanese subway car.
Apologies for the shakiness of this video, as you can see all the seats were taken so I had to take the video standing up.
Thanks for watching. Please like, comment and subscribe. Also please share this video.
Hope you enjoy.

Huis Ten Bosch Nagasaki 4K - ハウステンボス - Japan As It Truly Is
Huis Ten Bosch is a Dutch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki. You will feel like you are walking through a town in the Netherlands.
The detail put into the buildings is astonishing. Even some Dutch who have visited the park really feel like they are in their own country again. At least until they go inside one of the buildings, and find only the outside looks like home. Some visitors love Huis Ten Bosch while some others find it a big Potemkin village. You will also find a lot more signs in English instead of Dutch. But given how few people learn Dutch outside of Holland, it's not too much of a surprise.
But what makes Huis Ten Bosch so beautiful is during the flower seasons - like the tulips in March, or the hydrangea in June. Here you can see the hydrangea exploding in bloom all around you. And unless you are visiting Sasebo and can try something better elsewhere, you can also eat the famous Sasebo Burger, which is essentially a BLT cheeseburger with some egg salad topping.
You can also experience other amusement park rides like the Ferris wheel, zip lines, bungee jumping, water park, and other carnival type things. Night time also makes a big light show.
Japan and the Netherlands have had a trading relationship going back over 400 years, hence the creation of Huis Ten Bosch. The park was established in 1992 but went bankrupt in 2003 with a 2.2 billion yen debt. It was reorganized and is now owned by H.I.S. which is a major travel agency in Japan.
Although it is made to look like a Dutch town, you'll get a curious mix of music in various places, like Frank Sinatra's New York, New York, Domenico Modugno's Volare, and Hotel California by The Eagles. It's sorely doubtful you could have only Dutch music playing all around you (know any tunes?). But it does make you wonder who picks these things.
The music you hear was piped through around the hydrangea garden as well as the Huis Ten Bosch palace. It was hell to identify the compositions, but here it is in full hi fidelity.
This is the first 4K video of Huis Ten Bosch including the palace so enjoy it - with no yapping, no hammy theatrics and no over-gesticulating talking heads. This is Japan As It Truly Is!

NAGASAKI RAILWAY STATION
Nagasaki
Today was our third visit to Nagasaki (previously 2012 & 2008). We have seen the Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Museum and many of the other attractions including Glover Gardens, Oura Catholic Church, Shimabara, Arita, Mt Inasa, and the city on foot.
After immigration formalities (the fourth entering Japan this trip), we took several trams (one planned sector turned out to be on way the other way) to the park and spent some time there. Then a return trip to the Shianbashi area for a walk through the local neighbourhood where there were many shrines. Caught another tram back to the ship with many other passengers.
Shortly after leaving Nagasaki, we enjoyed some scenic cruising around the island of Gunkanjima or Hashima Island. It is also known as Battleship Island due to the shape of some of the ruins.
The island was previously a Coal mine after coal was discovered there in 1810. In 1890 Mitsubishi became involved until its closure in 1974.
In 2009 the island was re-opened to tourists, and in 2015 it became an UNESCO World Heritage site.
Many passengers assembled on deck with big expectations of the scenic cruising. From our point of view on the Diamond Princess about 6 nautical miles to the west of the island and late in the afternoon/early evening, visibility was poor and it was extremely difficult to even focus a long lens.
This is what we might have been able to glimpse (courtesy of Princess TV).
Nagasaki Day trip
I won't Naga-suckit because Nagasaki is great! It was more beautiful than what I expected.
