レジャーでは、ジャンボ海水プールや絶叫マシーンの「ナガシマスパーランド」、日本一と呼び声の高いイルミネーションで有名な「なばなの里」、日本最大級約240店舗のアウトレットモール「ジャズドリーム長島」などがあり、外国人観光客にも人気です。
大きなイベントとしては、５月の多度祭、７月の花火大会、８月の石取祭などがあります。
それ以外の観光スポットとしては、イギリス人建築家のジョサイア・コンドルが設計した「六華苑」や、多度祭の「多度大社」、洪水と戦った輪中について学べる「輪中の郷」などがあります。
また、木曽三川が育んだ、はまぐりやしじみ、海苔などの水産物や、トマト、たけのこ、和菓子、日本酒などの美味しい食べ物もたくさんあります。
伊勢神宮がある伊勢志摩や、大阪、京都に向かう時や、名古屋や飛騨高山、東京などの途中にも、ぜひお立ち寄りください！
It takes about 20 minutes by train from Nagoya city, and it takes about 1 hour by bus from Chubu International Airport (Centrair) to Kuwana city.
Kuwana city prospered as post station, castle town, port town of fifty-three stages of the Tokaido (one of the highways maintained in the Edo era.) With water and rich natural environment, there are mountains in the west and north, and Nobi Plains spreads through the east. Also the main lines such as an expressway, a national highway, and a railroad are still centered.
In terms of leisure, jumbo sea water pool and thrill ride of “Nagashima Spaland”, beautiful illumination in winter of “Nabana no Sato”, and the outlet mall of approximately 240 stores which is the biggest in Japan “Jazz Dream Nagashima”are popular among foreign tourists.
In terms of big events, there is Tado Festival in May, fireworks festival in July, and Ishidori Festival in August.
For other tourist spots, there is Waju Village to be able to learn about “Rokkaen” which was designed by the British architect, Josiah Conder, Tado Shrine of Tado Fetival, and Waju which is the name of the area that had floods.
In addition, there is a lot of delicious food such as a clam and a corbicula, marine products such as the laver, and tomato, a bamboo shoot, a Japanese sweet, the sake which are all benefits from Kiso Three River.
Also please come here as a staging post when you go to Iseshima where has Ise Shrine, Suzuka Circuit, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Nagoya, Hida Takayama, and Tokyo!
A Peak Around Japan and Ishidori Matsuri in Kuwana, Mie
Cheers to the first Japan video! I have spent most of the past year and a half traveling around southern Japan, to Tokyo, Yokohama, Chiba, Nagoya, Kuwana, Okazaki, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka. My oh my what a gorgeous country, I am completely in love! I never thought a country would steal my heart so much. Japan is honestly a magical place.
I did not film excessively there because I wanted to enjoy the moment I was in as much as possible, but I will be making another few videos from the footage I have and perhaps share some stories, because I had some unreal experiences while I was there.
So the first half of this video was a mishmash of footage from Yokohama, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kuwana & Chiba meant to serve as a little taste of what Japan has to offer. But this is barely the tip of the iceberg. I can hardly describe all that this beautiful country has to offer, it may be small but it is rich in culture, people, food and experiences.
While I was in Japan I went to so many festivals because there is always one you can go to or accidentally come across on a walk. The second half of this video is of my favorite festival in Japan, Ishidori Matsuri. It is held the first weekend of August every summer in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture (close to Nagoya). This is known as one of the noisiest festivals in Japan because there are 43 floats each making their own music, dancing through the streets of Kuwana. It was so much fun to attend this festival, everyone is in high spirits! It goes on for a few days where no one sleeps much from all the noise, but for months before you can hear people practicing the song all around Kuwana.

Old Maizuru Fortress Makiyama Battery
Here is the video from around the abandoned military fortress battery.
It is at the top of Maki-yama ( in Nishi Maizuru, Kyoto.
I believe it was built around 1901 with something to do with the Russo Japanese War. However, I am not a Japanese history expert and my level of Japanese reading is very low so I may be wrong with this information.
As I have learned, there are several of these located around Maizuru. I hope I am able to hike and find more of them.

Nagoya Station to Nabana no Sato 名古屋駅からなばなの里 | May 2017

We went to Nabana no Sato after a short rest at Nagoya Station. There were two options to go to Nabana no Sato from Nagoya Station: either by bus or train. We chose the bus.
Since we've come from the airport and we planned on leaving for Takayama in the afternoon that same day, what we did was we left our luggages from the available coin lockers around Nagoya Station. One big-sized locker fits 4 small-sized luggages.
At Nabana no Sato: Still lots of flowers around even though the winter illumination already ended (It ended just a week after we paid a visit). The entrance ticket also includes a 1,000 yen voucher so we used it for our lunch. As for the luxurious-looking and sumptuous meal we ate, we just added around 500 yen. All worth it!!!
