My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
Inside Israel Diary: Tel Aviv Bereft of Foreign Visitors
The vast white beaches of Tel Aviv are usually swarmed with international sun seekers but this summer's conflict in Gaza has sparked a wave of tourist cancellations.
As well as its status as leisure tourism hot spot, Israel's biggest city is also the cultural capital of the country.
However, Tel Aviv is in the middle of severe slump as foreign tourists have decided to stay away. While there were no deaths in the city as a result of rockets fired from Gaza, images of terrified Israeli civilians streaming towards bomb shelters reached the world as the conflict raged throughout July and August.
Israel launched the offensive on Gaza on 8 July, in response to rocket attacks by Hamas militants. More than 2,200 Palestinians were killed in the fighting, while Israel lost 66 soldiers along with seven civilians.
While the human disaster of the fighting had an immediate impact on foreign visitors to the country, the effects on Israel's economy could have a longer-term impact.
Historically, Tel Aviv has recovered quickly from downturns. However, almost-immediate cancellations in arrivals and the sheer length of the summer offensive have caused tourists to stay away.

Pastor Chris visits the Palmach museum in Tel Aviv in Israel 11.5.18 – Day Two
On Friday the 11th of May, Pastor Chris began his day in appropriate fashion, visiting the Herzl museum, dedicated to the founder of the Zionist movement, Theodore Herzl. Following the museum’s visit, the Pastor was then guided to the Palmach museum in Tel Aviv, which honors the Elie Fighting Force of the Hagana, which was an underground military organization. The Pastor reported that he was incredibly moved by the heroic achievements of both groups of individuals who fought for their religion and the existence of their Land. This was an inspiring experience for the Pastor, has he been reminded of the importance of having strong faith.

Tel Aviv Crafts Fair
Tel Aviv's Nahalat Binyamin arts and crafts fair is the largest of its kind in Israel.
Every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine, handpicked artists and craftspeople of all stripes set up booths in one of Tel Aviv's oldest neighborhoods, Nahalat Binyamin. Here in the textile district of the Mediterranean city is where everyone is welcome to browse Israel's largest selection of handmade items.
One of the rules of the market is that the artists must man their own kiosks. That gives them a great opportunity to form personal relationships with customers, who come from far and wide and number as many as 10,000 per week.
Some of the 200 artists sew, paint or sculpt their wares right on the spot, made to order.

Tour around Jaffa in Tel Aviv, Israel visiting the beach promenade and flea market יָפוֹ يَافَا
Tour around Jaffa in Tel Aviv, Israel visiting the beach promenade and flea market יָפוֹ يَافَا Know as Yafo in Hebrew and Yaffa in Arabic, Jaffa is historically the most ancient area in and around Tel Aviv. With a diverse population it is where most of the Arab population settles in Tel Aviv. From various vantage points one can enjoy gorgeous beach promenade views. This area, in particular, is especially popular with fitness buffs enjoying jogging, running, swimming and surfing.

With restored alleys, art galleries and quaint cafes, Jaffe is a city that is very pedestrian friendly.
While strolling along the Jaffa seaport we spotted fishermen and street musicians busking for coins.
After scarfing down hummus and other delectable Israeli and Arab snacks, we spent the rest of our time making our way down narrow lanes of the Flea Market and Bazaar. From antiques to souvenirs this is where tourists load up on items such as finely crafted hookahs and postcards to send home.
Clock Square
Bats Bat Cave
Today we're going on a tour to Jaffa where we're going to be checking out a traditional flea market.
I knew we'd find a cat. Crazy cat lady. Hello!

Bat sounds.

You can find lots of really cool items in this market. They have antiques, souvenirs, paintings, furniture.
So we really enjoyed exploring Jaffa or Yaffo as they like to call it. So my favorite thing about wandering around Jaffa has been that they have these narrow little alleys that are just kind of like a maze and you come across these friendly little cats that are just hanging out, so it's been a really fun place to explore. It's also a nice sunny day and we're right by the sea, so it was a great morning out and a nice little introduction to Israel.
This is part of our Travel in Israel series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Israeli culture, Israeli arts, Israeli foods, Israeli cuisine, Jewish religion and Israeli people.
