Happy Nairobi Kids Orphanage - Nairobi, Kenya - 21 November 2011
Happy Nairobi Kids is an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya that houses over 30 children and teaches nearly 100 in total. Francis Kamau, Founder and Director of Happy Nairobi Kids runs on donations alone. With rising food and energy prices in Kenya, more funding is always welcomed. Please do visit the site and see what you can do to help these lovely children, whom we had the pleasure of meeting on 21 November 2011. Both food and educational supplies are very much needed, such as pens, paper, books, desk materials and activity books. The children were kind enough to sing for us following lunch and are extremely fun and very close to one another. A number are AIDS orphans and a few infected with HIV themselves. This is a tribute to Francis Kamau, a former orphan himself who is giving back to the community, and his great work. Please visit the Happy Nairobi Kids website for more information on how to help it and other orphanages across Kenya and other parts of the African continent.

Giraffe Center - Nairobi
Feed a giraffe!
Located 5km southwest of the Nairobi city center, the Giraffe Center is a breeding and conservation program to rescue the endangered Rothschild giraffe.

Fall in love with Nairobi-CULTURAL STOPOVERS Kenya at Giraffe Centre.
CULTURAL STOPOVERS Kenya is Wanny Angerer in Moving Cultures initiative to make the variety and wealth of Nairobi’s cultural and artistic initiatives visible
The Giraffe Centre is located at Karen, approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in order to protect the endangered Rothschild giraffe, Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa.
The Giraffe Centre was started by Jock Leslie-Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured a baby giraffe to start a programme of breeding giraffe in captivity at their home in Langata - home of the present centre. Since then the programme has had huge success, resulting in the introduction of several breeding pairs of Rothschild Giraffe into Kenyan national parks.
In 1979, Leslie-Melville added an education centre to his (then still private) giraffe sanctuary. By 1983 he had raised enough money to establish the Giraffe Visitor's Centre as a tourist destination in Nairobi.
The main attraction for visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The centre is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.

Nairobi National Animal Park
Kenya ' The Country with a Bag filled of
Excitments'
Nairobi National Park is the main tourist attraction for visitors to Nairobi. Visitor attractions include the park's diverse bird species, cheetah, hyena, leopard, and lion. Other attractions are the wildebeest and zebra migrations in July and August, the Ivory Burning Site Monument, and the Nairobi Safari Walk and animal orphanage. Inhabitants of Nairobi visit the park and thousands of Kenyan children on school field trips visit the park each week.
The park's Wildlife Conservation Education Centre has lectures and video shows about wildlife and guided tours of the park and animal orphanage. These tours are primarily, but not exclusively, to educate schools and local communities. There has been criticism about animals' housing, and they now have more spacious housing in a more natural environment. The Kenya Wildlife Service has created a Safari Walk that highlights the variety of plants and animals that are in Kenya, and how they affect Kenya's population
Our trip to the Animal Orphanage National Park, Nairobi
We took 50 kids with us to see the Orphanage Animal in Nairobi National Park and also to BOMAS to see some cultural dance. It was an amazing day. :)

Giraffe Centre | Pre/Post Safari Activity In Nairobi, Kenya
I took a look at the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi.
The giraffe centre is a great place to visit during your safari holiday in Kenya as a pre/post safari activity if you have a few hours stuck in Nairobi between flights and/or transfers. The giraffe centre is very informative about the plight of giraffe in Africa and the interactions with the resident rothschild giraffe are fun and don't feel forced. The giraffe in the Giraffe Centre are the same individuals that you also see at Giraffe Manor if you were to stay there.
Visitors to Zebra Plains Collection camps can enquire about a trip to the giraffe centre when booking their safari, alternatively it is just a short taxi ride from the two Nairobi airports or city accommodation.
To book with Zebra Plains Collection you can contact reservations@zebraplainsmara.com or call +254776965290 / +254790789122

Rob The Ranger is a proudly South African YouTuber
The purpose of the Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos YouTube channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day.

David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
A clip of the baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage at Nairobi National Park. For 500KSh/person ($6), you can watch these elephants get their daily meal and play in the mud for 1 hour. They are very friendly and will come up to you to say hi and get touched.
Why the future of Nairobi National Park hangs in the balance
From multi-million shillings mansions to a stream of shiny Godowns that are under construction, the future of Nairobi National Park hangs in the balance. The green-line that acts as a buffer zone between the park and the industries around Mombasa road is also under threat. Today when Channel 1 visited the eastern gate of the Nairobi National Park, freshly cut trees were strewn inside the greenline with environmentalists saying unless this is stopped; the park will disappear in the not so distant future.

Foster a dog / cat and volunteer at an animal shelter (KSPCA)
The KSPCA is the only charitable animal welfare organisation in Kenya that deals for the most part with domestic animals. It evolved over the years, starting sometime after 1910 when some ladies took pity on the oxen bringing goods into Nairobi from the surrounding districts. The Society as an official body started in Mombasa. At that time it was known as the East African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Nairobi followed suit shortly afterwards. The first available minutes of meetings were recorded in 1925. Initially the society seemed more concerned with rabies control, the inspectors’ main task being to shoot stray dogs.

We are the world, we are the children - ADDHU/CYCA Centre for Orphans (Nairobi, Kenya)
There are about 2 million orphans in Kenya. The main cause is HIV. Many of these children live in the streets of Nairobi's slums. In January 2008, we established the ADDHU-CYCA centre for Orphans in Ongata Rongai, Nairobi. Besides a safe shelter and food, the children receive education, health care and most important, a lot of love from our staff and volunteers. We give them a true family. We have already saved 24 children. With your help, we can save many more! Find out how at addhu.org or send us an email to info@addhu.org
Giraffe Centre - Giraffes Want to Play! | Nairobi, Kenya
Around this time last year, Life Out Loud crew were in Kenya. One of the places we visited was the Giraffe Centre and we had an amazing time! Apart from the browsing area--where visitors could feed the giraffes and give them some kisses (at your own risk!)--Giraffe Centre also has an information centre, a nature sanctuary, tea house and a gift shop.
This is a place we would recommend to anyone visiting Nairobi! Spend an afternoon here and you will not be disappointed :D :D #LOLGOkenya #giraffecenter #kenya #nairobi

The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organisation. Our main purpose is to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.

The Giraffe Centre Experience-Nairobi, Kenya
The Giraffe Centre is accessible through public means. You will need to board a Karen bound matatu from Ambassador Terminal that uses Lang’ata Road, and pay 50-70 shillings depending on the time. Entrance at the gate is Kshs.250 per adult citizen and Kshs. 1,000 for adult non-citizens. The most convenient part is you can pay via M-pesa or card.
There is an information center-a small office with giraffe information. Here, you will learn that there are 3 types of giraffes in Kenya, i.e. the Maasai giraffe, the Reticulated giraffe and the Rothschild’s giraffe. You will also learn where each is found in Kenya and other facts about Kenyan wildlife.
Feeding a giraffe from your palm is an experience worth everything. It is amazing to see it curve its neck to grab the pellets from your palm with its long tongue. However, not all people are confident enough to let them feed off their palm.
Ministry Trip Kenya - Orphanage
I visited the orphanage of Pastor George Ngere in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya.
The kids were just wonderful and so are Pastor George and his wife; two trustworthy persons who follow Jesus wholeheartedly and who always help when someone is in trouble.
I always like to get an idea of what the situation on-site is all about and can assure you that everything he receives is really spend for the orphans.
The Holy Spirit made me pray for each child and revealed the pain they went through what made me cry. He also gave me the right words to pray for as well as had us cleanse the orphanage since witchcraft was a major topic in Nairobi and all over Africa.
Praying for Pastor George and his team as well as every orphan.
God bless them richly in Jesus name, AMEN.
