ثوار نـــالــــوت | معركة الغزايا | 28-7-2011
Libya (Libye), vicinity of Takut-AlGhazaya, July 28, 2011 ( | Amazigh-berber revolutionaries from Nalut launch a major offensive against Gaddafi's militias and mercenaries concentrated in the towns of Al-Ghazayah and T'Kut (down in the valley) (this video shows one group of fighters departing from their base at dawn). FF have been preparing for this major battle for weeks (see notably: and and Early morning, a first group of Freedom Fighters departing from military training camps located in the vicinity of Nalut and Kabaw launch their attack on Gaddafi's units concentrated in the cities of Al-Ghazayah and T'Kut from where Gaddafi's war criminals have been shelling the villages and cities of the Nefusa Imazighen mountains for months, using notably Grad BM21 propelled-rocket systems and missiles. Simultaneously further east, several other battalions of Freedom Fighters departing from the cities of Jadu, Al-Rujban, AL-Rhibat, Yefren and Zentan launch their attack on Gaddafi units concentrated between the towns of Al-Jawsh, Badr and Tiji. Around mid-day (Libya time), preliminary reports published by FF Nefusa unified military command states that the cities of Al-Ghazayah, T'Kut and Al-Rawiss are completely under the control of the FF, and other reports corroborated with pictures where the flag of Libyan independance can been seen hoisting, notably on T'Kut Qasr. This major offensive, prepared since weeks, is the first step for liberation of extreme west of the Nefusa mountains, and for paving the way towards the coastal Imazighen city of Zuwarah, breaking through the check point No. 28 on the road to Al-Jmil, being the next target on priority 2, where the population expressed its loyalty to the Gaddafi's regime.

STORYLINE
Refugees from Libya continued to seek shelter at a Red Crescent refugee camp on the Libya-Tunisia border on Thursday, after fleeing fighting between rebels and government forces.
Children played while women celebrated with songs and dances after they were told that rebels had taken control of the Libyan town of Wazin.
The camp, which has a capacity of 25,000 people, is run by the U.A.E Red Crescent, and has become a place of shelter for thousands of stranded Libyans, where they can find food and medical support.
I am here because I fled, because there are fights in my city said Ahmed Mesol Omar Kahlal, a refugee from Nalut, a small village South-West of Tripoli near the border with Tunisia.
Refugees have fled to neighbouring Tunisia by the tens of thousands, with a surge in crossings over the past week, according to aid officials, as Libyan government forces pound the west, particularly the besieged city of Misrata.
At the camp staff distribute bread to the refugees who are housed in lines of tents.
Inside women make the best of what they have, and try to give their children a normal life when even a simple afternoon tea seems a luxury.
Meanwhile rebels said on Thursday they had control of a post on the Tunisian border, forcing government soldiers to flee over the frontier and possibly opening a new channel for opposition forces in Moammar Gadhafi's bastion in western Libya.
Holding the Dhuheiba border crossing could open important supply routes for anti-Gadhafi forces and give the rebels another foothold in the area.

Mizran Mosque, Libya - #CultureUnderThreat Before and After
The Mizran Mosque, located in the historic quarter of Tripoli, was built in the 19th century CE. Before the mosque was erected, the area it served as a small village outside the walls of Tripoli.
On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 Salafist extremists detonated a bomb within the Mizran Mosque, destroying the structure and reducing its walls to rubble. This follows a trend of deliberate destruction of Sufi sites across Libya that began following the 2011 Arab Spring.
