Between Luang Prabang and Nong Kiew, Laos -- Fled Luang Prabang after one day because of the tourist hordes and managed to get myself on a boat with ... a bunch of other tourists. Nice going. Felt like some weird ride at Disneyland as we puttered upriver and waved cheerily to villagers who were working and bathing in the shallow water. River levels were extremely low—we could see the bottom for much of the journey—and at one point we had to get out and help things along.
