Lenj shipyard is situated in Gouran on Qeshm, the largest island in the Persian Gulf, this is the last place where a traditional wooden cargo boat known as the Lenj is still constructed. This practice harks back to an age-old way of life. The Bandari locals here still wear traditional dress, live in houses cooled by badgirs (wind towers) and build boats by hand, plank by plank, without blueprints.

One of the largest salt caves in the world, located in the island of Queshm, in Iran.
Qeshm Island longest salt cave in the world
The longest salt cave with a length of six thousand and five hundred meters is located in the western part of Qeshm Island. The salt deposits of this salt dome in Qeshm, which is in the form of a salt shaker, are the result of the deposition of mineral materials and salts such as sulfates, iron, sulfur, and common salt. This salt dome is 170 million years old and has been formed during Precambrian Era.
The caves in the Qeshm’s Namakdan (saltshaker) dome are named caves number one, two, and three, which cave one is for exhibition and it is open to tourists. The other two caves, which the longest salt cave of the world is one of them, are considered scientific and research caves due to the weakness of the walls the and possibility of collapse, and only professional cavers and researchers who are equipped with caving tools can visit them.
The salt cave of Qeshm was registered as one of the geosystems of UNESCO Global Geoparks as well as a National Natural Heritage Site in 2011.

Zar from the island of Qeshm in the Persian Gulf
Recording (on my iPad) of a staged Zar ritual from the island of Qeshm in the Persian Gulf staged during the Ritual and Traditional Theatre Festival Teheran 5th of September 2017. The syncretic zar rites, practiced by communities of descendants of slaves, merge Islam with certain spirits or ghosts or genies (or in fact Gods) brought with the slaves from East-Africa. Zar has spread all over Sudan, Egypt, around the Arab Peninsula, Southern Iran and as far as Pakistan and India. The language consists of mixed East-African languages among them Swahili plus Arabic plus in this case some Persian.
