Swiss nun Marie-Therese Felder has dedicated herself to rural communities in Taitung for the past 50 years. Recently, concerns about her aging led her to decide to return home and not become a burden to Taiwanese people. Upon hearing the news of her departure, many rushed to see her off at the airport, leading to a truly heartwarming goodbye.This white haired nun, Marie-Therese Felder, arrived at Kaohsiung’s Siaogang Airport yesterday as she prepared to undertake her return trip to Switzerland. This would be her last day in Taiwan. Many sent flowers, hugs and thanks to Felder who selflessly dedicated herself to Taiwan. She arrived in Taiwan in 1965 and was moved by the poor quality of medical services in remote mountainous areas, inspiring her to go to Taitung to provide medical care. She was trained in medicine and provided free clinic services for 50 years.Marie-Therese FelderNunI am very fond of Taiwan. I also believe that Taiwanese people have treated me very well. The manmade Hualien Fishing Harbor is located at the northeastern tip of Hualien and is one of Taiwan's four main commercial harbors. It is about 10-minute drive from downtown Hualien. Many tourists arrive at this whale-watching wharf to take a boat ride on the Pacific Ocean.
The warm Kuroshio current brings shoals of migratory fish to the waters near Hualien. There are many restaurants at the harbor that serve fresh seafood.
