Nan Madol at Pohnpei
Nan Madol is an archaeological site adjacent to the eastern shore of the island of Pohnpei that was the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty until about 1628.[3][note 1] It is in the present day Madolenihmw district of Pohnpei state, in the Federated States of Micronesia in the western Pacific Ocean. The city, constructed in a lagoon, consists of a series of small artificial islands linked by a network of canals.[3] The site core with its stone walls encloses an area approximately 1.5 km long by 0.5 km wide and it contains nearly 100 artificial islets—stone and coral fill platforms—bordered by tidal canals.
The name Nan Madol means spaces between and is a reference to the canals that crisscross the ruins.[citation needed] The original name was Soun Nan-leng (Reef of Heaven), according to Gene Ashby in his book Pohnpei, An Island Argosy.[9] The ruined city is one of today's great archaeological enigmas and is sometimes called Atlantis, the eighth wonder of the world, or the Venice of the Pacific.[10]

WOWOWOW! Have you ever heard of Nan Madol? It's my favorite place in the Pacific Islands so far (and top 10 site in the world).
Nan Madol is an ancient city built some 2,000+ years ago out of volcanic rock and sea coral on the Eastern shore of Pohnpei island in the country of Micronesia ???????? It’s something like Angkor Wat but on the middle of a remote island...
It was a place for royalty gatherings as well as the burial site for the king and queen. I honestly hadn’t heard about it until a week ago when my friend mentioned it to me in Nauru, and I am completely blown away by what I have seen here. My friend and I were we were the ONLY ones around to explore and it is just fascinating.
Have you ever heard of Nan Madol before? Add it to your list!

Mikronesien -- Yap -- Ponape -- Nan Madol
Wikipedia schreibt:
The Island Of Stone Money
Yap, einen Teilstaat der Föderierten Staaten von Mikronesien, die Hauptinsel der Yap-Inseln, eine pazifische Inselgruppe.
Yap, also known as Wa'ab by the locals,[1] is an island in the Caroline Islands of the western Pacific Ocean. It is located in Yap State of the Federated States of Micronesia. The island of Yap actually consists of four continental islands (hence the alternative name of the Yap Islands). Yap's indigenous cultures and traditions are still strong compared to other neighboring islands.[2] The four are very close together and joined within a common coral reef and entirely formed from an uplift of the Philippine Sea Plate. The land is mostly rolling hills densely covered with vegetation. Mangrove swamps line much of the shore. An outer barrier reef surrounds the islands, enclosing a lagoon between the fringing barrier reef.
