“Hanayome Noren” (Bridal Curtains) from Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture | nippon.com
The town of Nanao in Ishikawa Prefecture is known for its Seihaku Festival, one of the events collectively inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2016. Some 50 picturesque shops line Ippon-sugi Dōri, a street in the historic old town that dates back more than 600 years. The old-fashioned storefronts lend a touch of authentic antiquity to the festival scene.
Hanayome noren, or “bridal curtains,” have been part of local tradition since the mid-nineteenth century. At her nuptials, a bride passes through a curtain hung at the butsuma room where the Buddhist altar is placed and where the ceremony will take place. At Hanayome Noren-kan, the Bridal Curtain Museum , brightly colored curtains made over some 150 years from the Meiji period (1868–1912) to the present day are on display.

Museum in Nagano Prefecture Houses Paintings from Hokusai’s Late Years | Nippon.com: Japan in Video
Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849), Japan’s world-renowned woodblock artist, also produced masterful brush paintings. A number of these works now form the core of the collection at the Hokusai Museum (Hokusai-Kan) in Obuse, a small town in Nagano Prefecture. When he was in his eighties, Hokusai made four visits to Obuse at the invitation of Takai Kōzan, a local magnate, and devoted himself to painting. At Kōzan’s request, he painted festival floats for two local districts, Higashimachi and Kanmachi. Particularly striking are the images of a dragon and a phoenix that he painted on the ceiling of the Higashimachi float. Both paintings rank among the masterpieces of Hokusai’s final years. The two floats—Hokusai’s only three-dimensional works—are on permanent display at the museum.

KOEI Tecmo's Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence available on Steam.
Continuing our expansionism, we need to take Hitoyoshi Castle before the nearest of our main rivals manages to take it, as it is an incredibly important place to get. Castles are much more important than fortresses, so it was a great place to grab.

This is the Nanao train. The delay in starting is due to the guard holding it up to allow a late passenger to make it on. Understandable when there is one train an hour. Shot handheld.

This short film is a little contribution to support the Japanese people in this frightening situation and a message to maintain the idea that we have to think about renewable energies.
How many nuclear accidents, dead or ill people will it take before admitting the danger of nuclear power?

Japan Trip: Tsuwano Castle Ruins Panorama view Tsuwano, Shimane 019
The Tsuwano Castle Ruins (Tsuwanojō-seki) built on a mountain ridge, 200 meters above the town center, 370meters above sea level. The castle was first built in the late 12th century. In the early 1600s, stone walls were added to the castle, but the main keep fired in 1686 after being struck by lightning. The keep was never rebuilt, and the castle was decommissioned in the 1870s after the Meiji Restoration, leaving only its stone foundations today.
A chair lift makes the approach to the castle easier, although around 20 minute hike through the woods is still required to get to the ruins of the main fortifications. Grass covers the grounds where the buildings formerly stood, but the walls of the multiple circles of defense still make for an imposing sight. Another good one is the panoramic views over Tsuwano Town that can be enjoyed from there.
