Dazzling Light Shows Across China Attract Tourists
With the Chinese Lunar New Year set to fall on Jan. 28, many places across China have been drawing in visitors with an array of dazzling light shows to celebrate the country's Spring Festival.
A total of 1,300 festive lanterns representing auspicious meanings have been hung up in the Chinese jade garden in Manas County of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which has attracted large numbers of tourists.
The light show captures a number of Chinese mythological themes and Chinese zodiac animals, with the colorful creatures and a sea of lanterns lining the walkways against the nighttime backdrop, alluring tourists into the fairytale world.
Another spectacular light show staged in Shangqiu City of central China’s Henan Province has added to the festivity of the Chinese holiday.
A total of 30 million LED lights have been used to present a series of iconic images, including an impressive representation of Paris's Eiffel Tower, a sea of flowers and a host of cartoon characters.
The ancient art of Chinese sugar painting has even been showcased, with images of the Nine-Dragon Wall at the light show created using 1,500 kilograms of sugar which was boiled and shaped by the skilled hands of master craftsmen. When illuminated by the shining lights inside, the dragons menacingly look like they are blinking their eyes vividly at visitors.
The lights are in the shapes of the Eiffel Tower, a snow-covered Mount Fuji, and the ones representing the Chinese folk culture, such as the house of gold and beauty from books. They are all vivid images and produce a good visual effect with excellent crafts. They are wonderful and kids like them too, said Wang Qian, a local resident.
Meanwhile, the colorful light displays in Jiayuguan City of northwest China's Gansu Province have also enthralled visitors.
The light show this year is very beautiful and has a festive atmosphere, said Ma Hua, a citizen from Jiayuguan City.
Another light show in the Nanhu Lake Park in Tangshan City of north China’s Hebei Province is also attracting many tourists from far and wide to visit its beautiful scenery, appreciate the folk culture and taste delicious local food.
