MEMORIES OF INWA 2017
IT WAS ON THE 5TH OF JUNE 2017...
20 kilometers south of MANDALAY, INWA is the ancient IMPERIAL CAPITAL of successive Myanmar kingdoms from the 14th to 19th centuries. According to historical records, 31 Myanmar kings ruled INWA in successive eras. This video takes you to major attractions in INWA including BAGAYA MONASTERY, YADANA HSEMEE PAYA & NANMYIN WATCH TOWER
Located in the southwest of the Inwa Palace, the impressive BAGAYA teak monastery was originally built in 1593. During King Hsinbyushin's reign (1763–1776), Maha Thiri Zeya Thinkhaya, the town officer of Magwe, expanded the monastery and dedicated it to the Buddhist monk Shin Dhammabhinanda. Naturally subject to fires, many of the original structures have burned down and been rebuilt in the 20th century. The monastery is notable for its enormous size, its 267 gigantic wooden posts made from teak, and the ornate and delicate wood carvings that decorate its exterior. Today, it provides housing and schooling for local children, and is an impressive example of the ancient arts that the people of Burma should be proud of.
Walking around the ancient ruins of YADANA HSEMEE PAYA was so peaceful. You can find dozens of unique souvenirs at NANMYIN WATCH TOWER.

Travelkueen & InnWa (2019 Vlog-1)
Innwa is an ancient city near Mandalay, in central Myanmar (formerly Burma). It's known for religious structures left over from several reigns as the nation's capital, from the 14th to the 19th centuries. Dominating these is the Bagaya Kyaung, a 19th-century working monastery made of teak. The large, brick-and-stucco Maha Aungmye Bonzan monastery dates back to the 1800s. Its crypt area is a haven for bats.
The decaying Nanmyin watchtower is the only surviving structure of King Bagyidaw’s palace, used during the Konbaung dynasty. Huge sitting Buddhas feature at the Yedanasini Paya complex, which includes several ancient stupas surrounded by trees and fields. In the north of the city, ferries run across the river, marking the launch point for tours via horse and cart to the old capital. Just south of the center is the large, crumbling Le-htat-gyi Paya pagoda.
