Nantong city

Standing on the Yangtze river delta Nantong is a port city. The city covers an area of 8,544square kilometres and is interspersed by many river tributaries. Nantong is a vital river port bordering Yancheng to the north, Taizhou to the west, Suzhou and Shanghai to the south across the river, and the East China Sea to the east. The Hao River was once an ancient moat encircling Nantong City in the year of 958. With over a thousand years' history, the river is one of the four existent ancient moats in China. Along the Hao River, there are Tianning Temple, Nantong Museum and many squares, parks along with altogether 28 bridges and various species of old trees. The city is home to 7,737,900 people and it has its own airport located in the northwest.

Amazing Chinese Art- National Intangible Culture Heritage/Nantong Whistle Kites

Joy and I went to Nantong in last week; we were so lucky that we got the chance to see the only inheritor of Nantong whistle kites, Mr. Guo.

Nantong kites are unique in China, as they are the only kind of kites that can sing in the sky. In this video you will see the kites that are made by Mr.Guo. Every one is amazing. Start from the conception, painting, cutting, making the bamboo sticks and installing the whistles. If you want to be professional in Nantong kites, you need to be a painter first. Except the ones that were printed, all the other amazing pictures on the kites were all painted by Mr.Guo. They look so beautiful and so vivid! For Mr. Guo, kites are not only kites that can be played by people, they are also art, amazing art that deserve to be enshrined.
