Tena Ecuador Jungle Tour: Napo River and Puerto Misahuallí
This was our tour of the Ecuadorian amazon jungle with Casa Blanca and Gary’s Tours: cruising down the River Napo in a motor canoe, visiting Puerto Misahuallí and spotting wild wooly monkeys, learning how to make chocolate and chicha (a fermented yucca drink) with a Quichua family, visiting the Amzoonico wildlife rescue center, and feeding caimans… all in one day!
We visited Casa Blanca Hotel in Tena, Ecuador, and took a jungle tour with Gary’s Tours. La Casa Blanca Hotel offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere to rest and recover from your jungle adventure with a community kitchen and a washer and dryer for guest use. Gary is an experienced guide and is very professional and great with kids.
We had a great time and we can’t wait to go back.

Napo River border crossing: Iquitos, Perú to El Coca, Ecuador with 4 Local Boats
This is what it's like to cross the border between Perú and Ecuador by little boats on the Napo river in the Amazon region. There's no roads in this part of the Amazon rainforest, so people have to take the a boat to visit other places. The route in this video takes you from Iquitos to the little villages of Mazan, Santa Clotilde and Pantoja. In Pantoja you stamp out of Perú and take another boat to Nuevo Rocafuerte, where you stamp into Ecuador. From there it's one boat ride left to El Coca in Ecuador. In total, you will need to take four boats to cross this border!

Bad Monkeys Ecuador Amazon Rio Napo
Road trip to the Oriente, also know as the Amazon side of Ecuador. The rivers in this area are tributaries to the mighty Amazon, leading many to consider this region the upper Amazon. We take several hikes in the jungle, swim in the pristine rivers under waterfalls, explore jungle towns and cities, and watch both monkeys and tourists behaving badly.

This is the last time during this Gate1 tour when we were boarding a motorized canoe (up to 12 ppl per canoe) for a short and smooth 10-15 min ride on the Napo River.
*** Note that our bags/luggage came with us, in a separate canoe though (with Johnny Jesus, our wonderful Gate1 bus driver)!

Our Gate1 tour bus was waiting for us in Punta Ahuano --
heading back to the mountains once again!

La Casa del Suizo -- a peaceful and relaxing lodge in the Amazon, located on the shores of Ecuador's majestic Napo River.
The lodge itself is situated right above the riverbank and commands unbeatable views of the magnificent jungle surrounding it.

** Note that US travelers DO NOT need an adapter and we had NO problems in Ecuador at ANY of the locations during this trip!
(all electronics were charged and plugged-in like home basically!)
*** NO hair drier, ladies! Also, NO free WiFi or very poor!
