Tom Townsend with the Boscastle Buoys in Boscastle, Cornwall, England
These gentlemen are the most genuine, spirited, and emotionally compelling singers I've ever seen. They are the locals of the tiny coastal town of Boscastle, and sing regularly of the life and times of Cornwall -- songs about the fishing culture, the tin mining industry and it's demise, songs of their cornish home and history. Music that is traditional meaningful. I was very fortunate to be able to join them in what they do like no others. Especially in this venue -- not a formal, official concert -- but a kind of vocal jam late at night in the pub. Thank you all for letting me join you -- it was an honor. (Everyone, check out these guys in Cornwall. Get to England, and to Boscastle. Then to the Napoleon and experience them.)

The Boscastle Buoys In Rilla Mill
This video shows just some of what the Boscastle Buoys do. They are a lovely group from Cornwall. My family and neighbours enjoy what they do so we invited them to perform in The Manor House Inn; just across the road. It was a great evening, they had a few pints and we all enjoyed the evening. Please leave a like and don't forget to subscribe!
Boscastle Chalking the Mock - Post event fling
Chalking the Mock - celebrated on the night of Old Christmas in Boscastle, January 6th 2017. Traditional Cornish 'Guise Dancers' processed through the village and down to the Museum of Witchcraft & Magic where, following a telling of traditional ghost stories by Circle of Spears, the ceremony of Chalking the Mock was performed. One of the 'Osses, or Guise-Beasts, selected someone from the crowd to draw a chalk figure on the 'Mock', the Cornish version of the Yule log. This was burnt on the fire to mark the ending of the old, and the beginning of the new, and to banish the dark. Guise performances were then enjoyed in the pubs, and the traditional Cornish dance 'Boscastle Breakdown' was performed atop a barrel, as was the custom in the village. In this video we see the post-event party in the Wellington Hotel.
