Home Of The Fujiwara Clan: Tanzan Jinja in Nara-ken!
Situated deep in the mountains is of one Japan's and Nara's oldest shrines. Founded in the eight century and built by the monk Jo'e (643 -- 666). Jo'e was the oldest son of Fujiwara no Kamatari (614 -- 669), founder of the Fujiwara clan and the seat of the Fujiwara clan. It is a little difficult to reach but when you do there is fantastic scenery to enjoy. Some of its pavilions are very old and bear the mark of old age.
There are two entrances; one a steep stairway of 140 steps to a Shinto shrine, famous for its splendid view during the momiji season. The small balcony of this shrine is lined with lanterns and maple trees all around. The other entrance is less spectacular as far as steps are concerned, but the two pavilions that are at its entrance are well worth the view.
In between these two buildings is a small waterfall that adds to the serenity of the place. Next to these pavilions is a small open area flanked by two more pavilions, one of which has a memorial statue and the other is a small museum with different portraits. At the end of this small open area you will find some steps leading up to another pavilion and what impressed me the most was the view of the majestic 13 story pagoda in bright red vermillion, flanked on all sides by maple trees.
After climbing the steps and turning to the right there are more steps leading up to the main Shinto shrine. This is where the famous balcony with the lanterns is. Inside the hall is a small museum, a fairly large tatami room with artefacts from a bygone era. It's also a comfy place to take a rest and take in the quietness of the mountain and listen to the birds and the sounds of the forest.
On the day I was there a craftsman was replacing the outer mats of the main Hondo. I was lucky to be able to take a photo of these brand new mats. By the entrance of this shrine is a small gift shop for lucky charms.

Kyoto, Nara & Osaka
My journey in Japan continues. My next destination is Kyoto. Here I will find a small area called Gion where girls love to be dressed like geishas. The beautiful bamboo forrest in Arashiyama was a Wonderfull visit. I hiked all the way to the top at the Fushimi Inari shrine. It sure was a busy site. A good opportunity to go to Nara and to see the biggest bronze statue of Buddha in the world. That was truly amazing to see. As I moved to Osaka where I spend less than 24 hours I made most out of it. Visiting the Osaka castle, going to Umeda sky building to have a good view of the visit was a good plan. And just wondering trough the dozens of tourist near “the running man” a very nice city indeed. This concludes my trip to Japan.

Nikon Museum Tour (Shinagawa, Japan)
Enjoy a full tour of the Nikon Museum in Shinagawa, Japan.
Loaded with history and exhibits not only from the photographic industry, but also from industrial engineering, medicine, and electronics.
See every Nikon camera and lens ever made. Over 1,000 exhibits.
The museum is very easy to access from Shinagawa station.
Take the Konan Exit and follow the signs to the Museum located in Tower C.
Entry is free and the museum is open from 10:00-18:00.
Photography/videography is permitted on the premises with the exception of exhibited works such as photographs, and any films playing within exhibition areas.
There were some very exotic lenses on display, for example the 6mm f2.8, and the 1200 to 1700 mm telephoto zoom lens.
You'll also find all product catalogs and information that you can take home for free. The staff even gave me a little carry bag. At the end of the video I show you the accessories and lens catalogs.
The video is in 4K, so you'll be able to pause and read most of the text throughout the video.
Even if you're not in Shinagawa but happen to be in Tokyo or Yokohama, I seriously think it's worth the trip. Highly recommended.
Anyway, thanks for watching. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe.

Nara, a inland prefecture in the Kinki Region in the center of Kii Peninsula, is the cradle of the Japanese civilization. Many of the early emperors built their palaces in Nara Prefecture, formerly called Yamato. The Japan's first full-scale capital was set up on Heijo, current Nara city, in 710.
