This video is about a great place to visit and have a great, unique experience. The Sochaczew Narrow Gauge Museum is located west of Warsaw, the in Sochaczew, Poland.
The Sochaczew narrow gauge train Museum presents you two distinct attractions.
The first is a very large, interesting, and well maintained collection of narrow gauge steam engines and cars.
The second is a train ride on a narrow gauge line powered normally by a narrow gauge diesel engine and on special occasions a narrow gauge steam engine.
We have a separate video on the narrow gauge train ride a link to which you will find in the information below this video. But we do have a very short trailer in this video that gives you a little bit of information.
In addition to the outdoor exhibition of cars and engines, in the reception area there are other rooms filled with memorabilia and more information about the Sochaczew narrow gauge line.
The Museum continues to collect and renovate engines and cars from the remnants of the once vast network of narrow gauge train lines and factories in Poland.
The main cross-country steam lines using standard gauge track can be likened to the arteries of the country. The narrow gauge lines can be likened to veins which delivered product to the standard gauge lines.
Additionally narrow gauge engines were used at many plants such as sugar mills and steel mills.
The operating engines consist of the Lxd2 that you see in the trailer in this video and operating steam engines including a PX 29. These fully refurbished engines are not available for display. They are kept in a separate area in engine sheds. You can see them when they are used to power the tourist train rides.
This train Museum is part of the Warsaw train Museum. And again we have a separate video related to the Warsaw train Museum. A link to the Warsaw train Museum video is also in the information below.
Access to the Sochaczew Museum is very simple. It's about 45 minutes west of Warsaw by car. You can also reach it by commuter train from the Warsaw Center.
That’s about it for now. I hope it is informative and that you can take the time to visit the museum.
Now I want to hear from you.

Narrow guage steam locomotive Poland 2009
Mateusz & His Narrow Gauge Loco
Mat wants to restore this little 0-4-0 Orenstein & Koppel locomotive and create a forest railway in the Polish town of Dalekie-Tartak, reminiscent of the old steam worked narrow gauge lines that used to serve the logging industries in the region.
When Mat started working for Koleje Mazowieckie at the age of 20 in 2012, he was Poland's Youngest train driver.
The loco was built in Berlin in 1904, had worked at a sugar factory called Cukrownia Brześć Kujawski. Mat acquired the loco from a museum in Sochaczew and placed it on 18m of line in his back yard.
Beside Mat's line is a 1940 German built semaphore, which had been in service at Mostówka Station until recent signal upgrading.

Schmalspurbahnen in Polen - Teil 1 - Juli 2014
Cab ride on narrow gauge 8 ton Plymouth TL2 at BCFM Duncan 2 June 1997
This narrow gauge 8 ton Plymouth TL2 was built in 1928 for the BC Electric Railway as its #3. It went to Glenora and Western before coming to the BC Forest Museum. When the Shay was being serviced the Plymouth was used to carry visitors around the museum site. It is seen from both lineside and from within the cab on 2 June 1997.

Kolej Wąskotorowa w Sochaczewie (Summer Trip)
Wycieczka z Muzeum Kolei Wąskotorowej w Sochaczewie / Trip with Museum of Narrow Gauge Railway in Sochaczew Summer 2011
Rogow, Starachowice & Sochaczew 2004
0:00 A special train on the Rogow line on 2 September 2004, Lxd2 putting the train together.
1:07 A run-past at the standard/narrow crossing near Rogow.
1:28 A run-past at a river bridge, I think near Rawa.
2:10 The end of this trip - I think the location is the site of a factory connection just east of Rawa.
2:42 Views of the crossing with the Rawa bypass, then under construction.
3:04 Train arriving at Starachowice on 26 September. This is the only time I have seen a WLs75 working, as they always seem to be parked out of use with part of the transmission missing.
4:46 The loco running round at Lipie.
6:17 Px48 at Tulowice on 28 September 2004 (before the station building was demolished and a new one built) and then starting away for Sochaczew.
Cukrownia Kruszwica railway 2001 again
A series of shots taken on Tuesday 13 November 2001:
0:00 WLs150 heading east with wagons of beet pulp between Leszcze and Jerzyce.
0:18 Lxd2 with loaded beet train heading west towards the factory, between Piotrkow and Jerzyce. I believe the loco was on loan from the Sochaczew museum.
2:38 The same train between Jerzyce and Leszcze, with shots of typical Kujawy scenery.
6:00 Crossing a road at Witowice - the crossing had limited visibility, hence the enthusiastic use of horns.
7:58 Lyd2 on loaded beet train at Brzesc - Andrzej Mastalerz has a shot from this location as well as the one east of Jerzyce.
9:20 The same train from higher up the farm track. Apologies (again) for the camera shake, but the latter part of the clip is interesting in that it shows the train passing a works train including the former railcar.
10:44 WLs150 heading a long train of (mainly) empty wagons back towards the factory at Karsk. Lots more camera shake, but the clip shows the scale of the train in the context of the landscape. Note that the train includes the former railcar and the track gang's wagons seen in the previous clip.
18:12 Back at the factory gates a loaded beet train hauled by a Lyd2 crosses the bridge over the lake and stops as it reaches the weighbridge.
19:54 Shot from beside the lake, the same train seen earlier at Karsk heads in towards the factory.

Gniezno railway 2002
Scenes from two days at the Gniezno narrow gauge railway in June 2002.
First, a probably unique scene which requires some explanation. Lxd2-342 had been brought across from the now-closed Sompolno depot and was to be transported to the Sochaczew museum line on a standard gauge wagon, onto which it had to be lifted by crane, because Gniezno Wask. has no end loading ramp. Also, there was nowhere in the station area where the crane could get to, where there were narrow and standard gauge tracks close together. The solution was to roll the sg wagon onto transporters and shunt it through the yard to where the crane could be located clear of overhead cables.
By the time we arrived at the station on Wednesday 26 June 2002, the crane had completed the lift and was de-rigging, while the railway staff started securing the loco to the sg wagon. This video commences with the Lxd2 mounted on the sg wagon, which is mounted on transporters, being hauled back through the yard by Lxd2-369 (former Upper Silesian loco), to be pushed into the rollwagen pit and the sg wagon rolled off the transporters. Lxd2-369 then shunts back into place the coaches that had been moved to permit the lifting operation to take place, before heading into the shed.
11:46 On Thursday 27 June 2002 a van had been delivered to the transfer siding, bound for the depot at Niechanowo, and we see it being loaded onto transporters and leaving the station.
18:12 The short train heads along the roadside section between Ogrod Wiktorii and Jelonek.
20:42 Between Jelonek and Zelazkowo.
22:12 At Niechanowo, the loco having run round, it pushes the wagon into the depot.
23:37 The loco emerges from the depot. It is worth noting that, when the Gniezno sugar factory first built its 900mm gauge railway in the 1880s, it turned south at Niechanowo and headed for Arcugowo and Odrowaz. The line that now exists to Witkowo only opened in 1896 following acquisition of the railway by the Witkowo district authority and conversion to 600mm gauge. The line south was extended from Arcugowo to eventually reach Kleparz and connect with the Wrzesnia district railway. I remember that in the 1990s there were still rails across the main road at Niechanowo, though the line had closed in 1986.

5.3.2012: MUZEUM KOLEJOWE W PERESLAWL (Переслав)
Wąskotorowa sieć kolejowa powstała w regionie Pieresławskim od 1928 roku w celu przewozu torfu z olbrzymich bagien koło jeziora Pleszejewo do elektrowni. W czasach szczytowych przewozów, w latach 70-tych ubiegłego stulecia, sieć składała się z 200 kilometrów dwutorowych szlaków głównych, z sygnalizacją i rozjazdami sterowanymi centralnie. Wśród czynnych parowozów znajduje się wyprodukowana w Polsce lokomotywa serii Kp4.
This edition of KOLEJWIZJA, the Polish internet heritage rail TV, reports on the one and only Russian narrow gauge museum situated near Pereslavl. They operate a 3 km line on 750 mm gauge. History of narrow gauge industrial railways of that region started in 1928. In their best times, their rail was of 200 km length.
