Gingerbread Mania - a unique and playful gingerbread art and design exhibition - is held in the centre of Tallinn every Christmas. Everything you see is made from gingerbread, using more than a little bit of magic! Over a number of weeks, you will be drawn into a mouth-watering world of excitement by the creations of a hundred different Estonian artists and designers, taking you to a delicious and adventure-filled world that smells like heaven.
Gingerbread Mania is the artists’ Christmas present to the viewers. This year, the theme is Estonia. Gingerbread workshops will also take place. You can explore the gingerbread world only for some weeks during the Christmas season.

[RUS] Выставка искусства и дизайна в приготовлении пряного печенья «ПипаркоогиМания»
На Рождество в центре Таллинна проводится уникальное, игривое дизайн-художественное мероприятие ПипаркоогиМания. Все представленное на этой выставке сделано из рождественского печенья – пипаркооков, и содержит огромное количество волшебной силы.
В течение нескольких недель можно будет насладиться творчеством эстонских художников, дизайнеров и оформителей, которое унесет гостей в ароматный и сладкий мир мечты и пекарских изысков.
ПипаркоогиМания – это рождественский подарок зрителям от художников, тема этого года – Эстония. Также будут организованы мастер-классы по изготовлению пряного печенья. Приключения в мире пряного рождественского печенья возможны только в течение считанных недель в рождественский сезон.

In addition to the music programme at Kreenholm and Ro-Ro, there's plenty more happening around town. For those arriving early, there is the screening of the movie Лето at Narva College of University of Tartu on Thursday, Sept 20; on Friday, the college hosts Station Narva Business Day. Friday also sees the opening of an exhibition by Mar Canet and Varvara Gulyayeva at Narva Art Residency, which will also host BAZAR Arutelude päev discussions from Friday to Saturday. On Saturday, we offer a range of free concerts, taking place at various venues across town. In the final stretch of the festival, on Sunday midday, everyone is welcome to the festivities of Narva being declared the Autumn Capital at the River Promenade, a collective long table lunch, the Language CAFÈ and Comedy Estonia's trilingual stand-up show. Each year the Vermont Council on World Affairs hosts well over 100 international visitors coming to the area under the auspices of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The IVLP is the U.S. Department of State's premier professional exchange program bringing emerging and upcoming leaders across all sectors to experience the United States firsthand while completing carefully designed programs that reflect their professional interests and U.S. foreign policy goals.

From March 28-31, 2012, the Vermont Council on World Affairs (VCWA) was proud to host a group from Estonia who visited Vermont as participants in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
This particular group's project was titled, Innovation & Management in the Creative Industries and our program focused on topics such as designated arts districts, government and nonprofit initiatives to support the creative industries, academic programs supporting creative industries, and creative industries as economic development tools. In this video, the group visits the Winooski Welcome Center to learn about how this previously-vacant space has been used for temporary art shows and is exploring a more permanent way to incorporate the economic development benefits of the creative industries in Winooski. Thanks again to Jodi Harrington and Ric Kasini!

Estonian National Museum (ERM) as a museum of Estonian people helps interpret being Estonian, carry the basic values of the nation, and guard its continuity. For visitors opens, both a material and virtual world, that invites visitors to discover, realize, and become part of it.
The museum has two permanent exhibitions. Encounters is an exhibition about ordinary Estonian folk who have lived in this country through the ages. The echoes of Ural presents the traditional everyday culture of Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic people.
In addition to exhibitions, the premises include a cinema and a conference hall, a black box theatre, a café, a restaurant, and museum shop.

[RUS] Эстонский Национальный Mузей (ERM) — это национальный музей, который осмысляет понятие эстонской сущности, является носителем основных ценностей народа и хранителем преемственности. Посетителям откроется как предметный, так и виртуальный мир, зовущий к открытиям, осознанию и манящий принять во всём самостоятельное участие.
В музее есть две постоянных выставки. «Встречи» — это выставка об обычных эстонских людях, которые жили на этой земле во все времена. Выставка «Отголосок Урала» знакомит с традиционной культурой быта финно-угров и самоедов.
Кроме выставочной части, в здании есть кинозал и конференц-зал, театр black box, кафе, ресторан и музейный магазин.

St. Nicholas' Church and Museum | NIGULISTE | Tallinn
St. Nicholas' Church (Niguliste kirik) is a medieval former church in Tallinn, Estonia. It was dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron of the fishermen and sailors. Originally built in the 13th century, it was partially destroyed in Soviet Bombing of Tallinn in World War II. It has since been restored and today houses a branch of the Art Museum of Estonia, focusing mainly on ecclesiastical art from the Middle Ages onward. The former church is also used as a concert hall.
Most famous of the artworks in the museum is perhaps a Danse Macabre by the Lübeck master Bernt Notke, which depicts the transience of life, the skeletal figures of Death taking along the mighty as well as the feeble ones. Danse Macabre or The Dance of Death was a popular medieval motif in art. Only the initial fragment of the original 30 metres wide painting (accomplished at the end of the 15th century) has been preserved and is currently displayed in St Nicholas' Church.
The museum contains several other notable late Gothic and early Northern Renaissance works of art. The former High Altar of St Nicholas' Church was made between 1478–1481 in the workshop of Hermen Rode, a master painter from Lübeck. Paintings on the outer flanks of this double-winged altar depict the life of Saint Nicholas, the central part and the unfolded wings expose over thirty wooden sculptures forming the so-called gallery of saints.
The museum also contains a special silver chamber with the silver treasures of guilds, craft corporations and the Brotherhood of Blackheads.

[RUS] Церковь Святого Николая или Церковь Нигулисте (эст. Niguliste kirik) — бывшая лютеранская церковь, ныне — музей-концертный зал. Здание церкви расположено в Старом городе Таллина. Этот храм, названный в честь покровителя всех мореходов — святого Николая, был основан немецкими купцами в XIII веке. Музей Нигулисте является одним из четырёх филиалов Эстонского художественного музея.
Особого внимания заслуживает всемирно известная картина любекского живописца Берндта Нотке — «Пляска смерти», часть которой находится в часовне Св. Антония. На картине показана цепочка из людей разных сословий, начиная папой римским и заканчивая младенцем, а также танцующие рядом с ними фигурки Смерти, завлекающие людей в танец. Сначала художник написал две схожие картины, одна из них погибла в Любеке во времена Второй мировой войны, в Таллине смогли сохранить лишь фрагмент этого произведения. В церкви сохранился алтарь старонидерландской работы, изготовление которого приписывается знаменитому таллинскому художнику Зиттову.
