The Battles For Atlanta 145th Civil War DVD Trailer
. THE BATTLES THAT BROKE THE BACKBONE OF THE SOUTH... An impressive and epic commemoration of the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta. The story of this pivotal 1864 Campaign from Tennessee to the Sea is witnessed and told from the common soldier's point of view. Kennesaw Mountain... Cheatham's Hill... Atlanta... Kilpatrick's Raid... Jonesboro... This Campaign marked a clear escalation in the brutality and focus of General William T. Sherman's drive to crush Confederate forces, under Generals Johnston and Hood, holding the Union off in the western theater of the war. Our one-of-a-kind, high-definition re-enactment footage is the background to an epic spectacle. Featuring thousands of re-enactors, no other docu-drama or film has placed you on the battlefields of the Atlanta Campaign quite like this. From multi-award winning filmmaker Kevin R. Hershberger (Wicked Spring; Gettysburg: Darkest Days & Finest Hours), our cameras were embedded with the soldiers on the field of battle for four large-scale re-enactments between September 4 - 6, 2009; each taking place at the historic Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton, Georgia.

Another Closed Civil War Museum
A poky Civil War museum in Georgia has reportedly ceased to operate. The volunteer-driven Nash Farm Battlefield Museum in Hampton reports that it has closed it's doors due to a county commissioner who had previously requested that all Confederate flags be removed from the premises. In response, Henry County Commissioner Dee Clemmons says that she had merely asked the volunteers to remove the Confederate flags within the museum's gift shop that were clearly visible from outside. The closure has reportedly upset nearby residents, thus continuing the debate over whether the Confederate flag is a symbol of hate or heritage.

Interstate 95 in Halifax County, North Carolina
We were on our way to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina via Interstate 95. One of the areas we went through was Halifax County, North Carolina. Halifax County is located northeast of Raleigh, North Carolina's capital city, and not far from the Virginia border. It is mostly rural with the exception of the cities of Roanoke Rapids and Halifax.

Allen Iverson Highlight Georgetown vs Morgan State 94/95 NCAA *A great passer
From the way Nolan Richardson tossed around the superlatives, one would think the coach of the NCAA champion Arkansas Razorbacks had just witnessed the college debut of another Isiah Thomas, Anfernee Hardaway or even a Michael Jordan.
After Arkansas breezed past Georgetown 97-79 last Sunday, Richardson appraised the first college game played by Allen Iverson, the Hoyas' widely ballyhooed, remarkably swift 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound freshman guard.
Iverson scored 19 points. But he also committed eight turnovers, missed 13 of 18 shots and frequently was late getting back on defense.
Those shortcoming didn't matter to Richardson. I've seen three calf shows, nine horse ropings-I even saw Elvis once, he said. But I've never seen a guard do what Iverson can do with a basketball. I saw him go through traps of ours nobody's ever gone through. He's awesome.
Iverson's future performance may never live up to that rave. Yet his game is spectacular for a kid who did not play as a high school senior.
As a junior at Bethel High in Hampton, Iverson was voted Virginia's Player of the Year in two sports. In football, he flashed dazzling speed as a quarterback, defensive back and kick returner. In basketball, he led his team to a state title by averaging 31.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 9.2 assists.
Iverson did not play as a senior. Involved in a February, 1993 brawl in Hampton, he was accused of swinging a chair that hit a bowling alley employee and knocked out a woman who was in a group of innocent bystanders. He was convicted of maiming by mob, a felony, and received a 15-year sentence with 10 years suspended. He served four months at the Newport News City Farm.
Last Dec. 30, outgoing Gov. Douglas Wilder gave Iverson and two others convicted with him a rare conditional clemency. He was prohibited from participating in organized sports and had to attend regular classes and abide by a curfew until August. He remains on probation and is appealing the conviction.
In Iverson's second game as a Hoya on Wednesday, Georgetown routed a weak Morgan State team 99-63. He scored 18 points, improved his shooting to 7 of 13, upped his assists to 10 and trimmed his turnovers to three.
Iverson's next game is at home Saturday against De Paul, a team with two seniors who recall facing another brilliant freshman.
On Nov. 29, 1991, in the dedication game of the Memphis Pyramid, the site of Iverson's first game, Tom Kleinschmidt and Brandon Cole played bit parts in an overtime victory over Memphis and Hardaway, who was making his college debut.
Like Iverson, Hardaway flowed hot and cold. He had 18 points, 15 rebounds and six assists but committed 13 turnovers, missed 12 of 19 shots, 7 of 11 from three-point range, and all three free throws.
