Gerstman Family Honored as Hometown Heroes - Family Recognized for Community Service
Garden City, NY; March 13, 2008 -- The Gerstman family, founders of the Garden City, NY-based nonprofit organization, the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, was selected as the March 2008 Hometown Heroes, an honor bestowed by Cherry Hill, NJ-based Commerce Bank and the New York Islanders hockey club. The award was presented on Thursday night, March 6, 2008, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY, in front of a sell out crowd on hand to watch the Islanders host the New York Rangers.
The Gerstmans received the award as recognition for their outstanding work in helping the physically disabled children in the community through their Foundation, which helps fund summer camp for physically disabled children in the New York Metropolitan area and Northeast United States. For the past five summers, the Foundation has been partnering with existing accredited camping institutions to help make the dream of summer camp a reality for those physically disabled children who cannot afford the added cost of specialized busing, one-on-one care, and counseling.
The award, presented by Eric Fishon, Commerce Bank's Assistant Vice President of Suburban New York Marketing, recognizes those individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond to help others in the community.
Dan Gerstman, one of the co-founders of the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, represented the Gerstman family at the awards ceremony.
The Gerstman Family is thankful for the recognition of the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, he said. The recognition allows us to promote awareness for our mission, which is to send a record number of children with physical disabilities to integrated summer camps. Being named Hometown Heroes confirms that we are working in an important area where children and their families get tremendous benefits from the service that we provide right here in New York!
Mike Matranga, New York Islanders Partnership Marketing Coordinator, said that the award is a great way to honor those members of our community who go the extra step. As the only Long Island major professional sports team, we feel privileged to recognize the people in our community who do so much to help others, he said. Through the Hometown Heroes program, we have really heard some wonderful stories, and we have gotten tremendous feedback from the fans.

Incomplete, different angle. It's an upgraded version of the 26 min version and after the 26 mins, a new source starts. Apparently the taper got caught after 26 mins, then his friend filmed the rest of the show from a different spot which is only from a mid gen VHS tape. Most complete version of the show!

Employment, Wages Increase In October
People wait in line to enter the Nassau County Mega Job Fair at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, U.S. October 7, 2014. U.S. employers likely stepped up hiring in October and boosted wages for workers, which could effectively seal the case for a December interest rate increase from the Federal Reserve. Nonfarm payrolls likely increased by 175,000 jobs last month after rising 156,000 in September, according to a Reuters survey of economists. The unemployment rate is forecast falling one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.9 percent.

Long Island
Long Island is an island in the U.S. state of New York. Stretching northeast from New York Harbor into the Atlantic Ocean, the island comprises four counties, including two (Kings and Queens) that form the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, and two (Nassau and Suffolk) that are farther out on the island and mainly suburban. Although all four counties are part of the greater New York metropolitan area, the name Long Island is often reserved in popular usage for only Nassau and Suffolk counties, as distinct from those lying within New York City proper. North of the island is Long Island Sound, across which are the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
With a Census-estimated population of 7,740,208 in 2013, Long Island is the most populated island in any U.S. state or territory, and the 17th-most populous island in the world (ahead of Ireland, Jamaica, and Hokkaidō). Its population density is 5,402 inhabitants per square mile (2,086 /km2). If it were a U.S. state, Long Island would rank 13th in population (after Virginia) and first in population density.

WrestleMania
WrestleMania is a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event, produced annually in mid-late March or early April by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), a professional wrestling promotion based in Connecticut. WWE first produced the event in 1985 to be its premier annual event and has since produced thirty editions, the thirty-first in Santa Clara, California in 2015. WWE regards WrestleMania as its flagship event due to it being the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. It is considered to be the WWE's Super Bowl equivalent. WrestleMania was conceptualized by WWE owner Vince McMahon.
WrestleMania's widespread success helped transform the professional wrestling sport and make WWE the most successful wrestling promotion in the world. The event has facilitated the rise to stardom of several top WWE wrestlers. Celebrities such as Aretha Franklin, Cyndi Lauper, Muhammad Ali, Mr. T, Alice Cooper, Lawrence Taylor, Pamela Anderson, Mike Tyson, Donald Trump, Floyd Mayweather, Snoop Dogg, Snooki, Sean Combs, Kid Rock, and others have participated or made special appearances within the events.

Nassau County, New York
Nassau County is a suburban county on Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. At the 2010 census, the county's population was 1,339,532, estimated to have increased to 1,358,627 in 2014. The county seat is located in the Village of Garden City, within the boundaries of the Mineola 11501 zip code. The name of the county comes from an old name for Long Island, which was at one time named Nassau, after the Dutch Prince William of Nassau, a member of the House of Nassau, itself named for the German town Nassau. The county colors are also the colors of the House of Orange-Nassau.
Nassau County is located immediately east of New York City, within the New York-Newark-Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is one of the four counties that occupy Long Island, together with Suffolk County to its immediate east and Queens and Kings counties to the west, which correspond, respectively, to the New York City boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn. Two cities, three towns, 64 incorporated villages, and more than 60 unincorporated hamlets are located within the county. There are 56 public school districts within the county. Post office districts and school districts use the same names as a city, hamlet, or village within them, but each sets the boundaries independently.
