Nata Sanctuary & Nata Lodge, Makgadikgadi Pans. Travel guide.
Botswana lies at the center of the Southern Africa plateau and covers an area of approximately 582 000 square km. It borders Zambia, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Between 70 and 80 percent of the country is covered by Kalahari Desert. Here the vegetation varies from bushy, grass to bare sand.
Botswana has approximately 15 000 km of roads. Recently many kilometers of road have been tarred. The rest are gravel, earth- or sand surfaced, and depending on the season, some of them can be in very poor condition.
The residents of Botswana are known as the Batswana and their national language is Setswana.

Nata Clinic Choir 2013
We were delighted by this heartfelt welcoming. Thank you Nata Clinic!
The clinic was busy with their regular schedule which meant that the talk and exams were well attended and we were grateful for the generous access to examination rooms that the clinic allowed us.

# 181 Botswana: Nata Bird Sanctuary

Off road at Nata bird sanctuary in Botswana (Makgadikgadi Pans)
We went camping in the Nata bird sanctuary in Botswana. In he rainy season the Makgadikgadi pans are filled with 1000's of square kilometres of water. In the dry season the pans are transformed into a desert landscape as far as the eye can see. We had fun with off-road vehicles and motorbikes in the pans. What a memorable weekend.

Gettin' Lost in Botswana
We explored Botswana for 23 days. It was our second time in this beautiful country as there was so much more to explore such as: Sleeping under the stars at the saltpans 'Makgadikgadi Pan National Park', the beautiful offroad route trought 'Chobe National Park' (Maun/Kasane), were kept awake in the middle of the night by roaring of lions @ Kgalagadi Transfortier Park, rode the most sandy road of our life @ Kalahari Desert and met lovely people from Maun were we spend a hole weekend on their farm/village in the mountains.
Curious what else we experience? Then look at:
