Rabat Archaeological Museum Morocco OFFICIAL Tour guide
The Rabat Archaeological Museum (French: Musée archéologique de Rabat) is an archaeological museum in Rabat, Morocco. Opened in 1932, it contains the most extensive collection of archaeological artifacts found in the country. The museum holds prehistoric and pre-Islamic collections, including many objects uncovered by archaeologists working in Volubilis, Banasa and Thamusida, which were first put on display in 1930-1932. This includes human remains from the middle Palaeolithic period (probably Neanderthals) to the Neolithic (4000 BC). A further find in 1957 saw the museum expand considerably, after which it became a National Museum and it has housed the National Museum collections since 1986. Pre-Roman and Roman civilisations are well represented in the museum with a number of notable Hellenistic-style bronzes such as the Dog of Volubilis, and the marble 'Ephebe Crowned With Ivy, a CATO bust and Head of a Young Berber. The Roman collection of the museum is derived from sites that include Volubilis, Banasa, Thamusida, Sala and Mogador, and which are organized by theme. The displays such as cooking utensils like plates, dishes, glasses and knives reveal much about every day life and Mediterranean relations in earlier times particularly between Morocco and Carthage. There are also the remnants of terracotta piping used in Roman public baths in Morocco. The museum has a noted collection of antique bronzes found mainly in Volubilis, including a bust of Cato the Younger from the 1st century and above all, the Lampadophores (nl) Ephebe Crowned with Ivy bust which depicts an ephebe, a young soldier in training naked, wearing a crown of ivy and holding a lamp in his left hand.[1] The Lustral Ephebe is also on display, discovered in Volubilis in 1929, as is the bust of Juba II dating back to 25 BC, originally imported from Egypt. The Dog of Volubilis was found in 1916, dating back to Hadrian in the early 2nd century. The museum also has a number of notable marble statues from Roman times, notably the Head of a Young Berber from Augustus's reign, the Sleeping Silenus and a Sphinx. Numerous figures of Roman gods are on display including Venus, Mars and Bacchus and Egyptian deity figures such as Anubis and Isis.

Rabat | Capital of Morocco:
Rabat, Morocco's capital, rests along the shores of the Bouregreg River and the Atlantic Ocean. It's known for landmarks that speak to its Islamic and French-colonial heritage, including the Kasbah of the Udayas. This Berber-era royal fort is surrounded by formal French-designed gardens and overlooks the ocean. The city's iconic Hassan Tower, a 12th-century minaret, soars above the ruins of a mosque.
Neighboring the Hassan Tower is the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, named for the 20th-century Moroccan sultan and king interred within its ornate mosaic-covered walls. Lining Rabat's walled medina, a mazelike quarter, are market stalls selling traditional handicrafts, carpets and spices. In the city's modern quarter (Ville Nouvelle), the Archaeological Museum displays a vast collection of ancient statues and other artifacts from throughout Morocco. Among them are finds from Chellah, an Islamic burial ground built atop ancient Roman ruins, which lies just outside modern-day Rabat.

Elongated skulls in National museum of archaeology Lima Peru 2019.
DNA test results on the elongated skulls discovered in Peru have been released by a researcher investigating if the bones could belong to an alien race. The 3,000-year old Paracas skulls, with elongated craniums, have long been held up by UFO hunters as evidence of ancient alien visitations due to their extraordinarily huge foreheads.
Elongated heads are found in the National museum of archaeology in Lima Peru.

Berber is an extremely old culture, but one that we are rediscovering today, because as you know the Berbers were cast aside and Berber culture denied. The Berber language was no longer spoken and its writing had disappeared.

In day to day life in certain regions you will see women working in fields wearing very heavy bracelets. So heavy that you wonder how they manage to move. Then you realise that they can't keep them safe at home as there is no safe with a key; no cupboard that can be locked. So people wear a lot of their wealth all the time.

For Moroccans it's a chance to get close to the culture which has today been recognised in the constitution. It's the only proper Berber museum apart from a few, small collections. So it will allow Moroccans to have access to their heritage and for foreign visitors to discover the Berber identity of Morocco.

We can save objects, but what about songs, building technique, the different sorts of hand-made jewellery even the way of life? Also the approach to religion - all that sort of thing is extremely fragile. But if people become aware - and this museum is part of that awakening - the culture may ultimately be saved.

It is (the museum) just going along with the movement. It isn't an integral part of the resurgence because the principle movers and shakers are first and foremost North Africans who are a part of the Amazigh cultural scene in North African countries from Libya to Morocco passing by Tunisia and Algeria.

Artists paint Rabat for street art festival
(28 Apr 2019) LEADIN:
Artists from around the world have been invited to graffiti Morocco's capital for the fifth edition of the Jidar festival.
They each have a week to create a piece for Rabat's official celebration of street art.
STORYLINE:
Morocco's capital just got more colourful.
Previously plain walls now have paintings on show.
Morran Benlahcen, aka Morran, is a Moroccan artist who has ventured beyond the gallery space.
He's painting the wall outside Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, keeping his spray can still as the crane moves him up and down.
His work is part of the Jidar Festival, which began in 2015 and is financed by the local city hall and private sponsors.
For this 5th edition, 12 international and national artists are taking part.
The foreign contributors come from Canada, France, Spain, Netherlands Belgium and the UK.
They have all chosen walls in Rabat and have one week to complete their piece.
Morran, who is representing Morocco in the festival, says graffiti has got people talking.
I think it's something we don't always get a chance to experience in a gallery or at an art opening, he says.
Salah Malouli is the festival's the artistic director.
He's passionate about street art, and chose the theme of childhood for this year's edition.
When we were younger we would have loved to have murals in our neighbourhoods and be able to dream of making them too, he explains.
In the popular neighbourhood of Takkadoum, a construction crane takes another muralist closer to his wall.
French artist Louis Lambert, aka 3TTMan, is completing his piece, a tribute to the local culture of Morocco.
To me, murals are a gift, he says.
That's why I like making very colourful work, which makes people feel good when they see it, which can give a bit of joy and happiness, he adds.
A few blocks, away another artist is taking care of another wall, this time near the ocean.
Yves Chatelin is a French artist based in Morocco.
He decided to paint these two fishermen based on a photo he once took in the south of the country.
Even though this neighbourhood is already nice, I think a mural always adds something, he says.
I'm almost sure there will be some inspired to take up graffiti among those who came and saw us painting, he adds.
And to help the next generation in finding their voice, each year there is a collective mural where some young local artists are able to get advice from the professional.
This time, Danae Brissonnet, aka Danae, from Canada is in charge.
It's important for me that they do their own thing, she says.
I show them drawing techniques, techniques on how to draw bigger, how to use the pole with the roller, she explains.
It's a way to help others create their own murals.
The 5th edition of Jidar Festival runs from the 22 to the 28 April 2019.
