The locals called it Village Museum, the National Ethnographic Park Romulus Vuia is located near one of the largest and richest forests of Cluj, Hoia, continuation that starts with Citadel Hill in downtown Cluj.
Ethnographic Park Romulus Vuia in Cluj, is the first open-air ethnographic museum in Romania and the sixth in Europe, is part of the Ethnographic Museum.
The museum can be visited from Tuesday - Sunday (Monday closed) between the hours: 9.00 - 17.00 (last entry 16.00)
History of the Village Museum:
National Ethnographic Park Romulus Vuia was founded in 1929 and is named after the first director and founder, Professor Romulus Vuia. Located in the Hoia forrest in Cluj-Napoca, the park is divided into two thematic areas: Technical installations and workshops (30 technical installations and 6 case-workshop) and regional types of households and monuments of folk architecture (12 households complete peasant from different ethnographic regions of Transylvania).

Panorama of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and points of interest
Cluj-Napoca is the second most populous city in Romania. Located in the Someșul Mic River valley, the city is considered the unofficial capital to the historical province of Transylvania. The main points of interest of Cluj-Napoca are the Saint Michael's Church in Unirii Square, the equestrian statue of Matthias Corvinus, and the Orthodox Cathedral on Avram Iancu Square.
A highlight of the city is the botanical garden, situated in the vicinity of the centre. Cluj-Napoca has many theatres and museums. The latter include the National Museum of Transylvanian History and the Ethnographic Museum. In Cluj-Napoca there are a lot of palaces that can be visited including: Bánffy Palace, Széki Palace, and the oldest residence in Cluj-Napoca - the Matthias Corvinus House.

In the spring of 2019, we have visited the Trascău mountains, just an hour away from Cluj-Napoca. Our hike started near the Vălișoara gorge, also called Aiud gorge and the village of Vălișoara. On our way to peak Data we had some surprises.

The Village Museum (Muzeul Satului in Romanian) is an open-air ethnographic museum located in the Herăstrău Park (Bucharest, Romania), showcasing traditional Romanian village life. The museum extends to over 100,000 m2, and contains 272 authentic peasant farms and houses from all over Romania.
It was created in 1936 by Dimitrie Gusti, Victor Ion Popa, and Henri H. Stahl.
There are other village museums throughout Romania, including ASTRA National Museum Complex in Sibiu, and those of Cluj-Napoca, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Timișoara, a.s.o.
