Opened in 1994, National Golf Club presents itself as 'First and Still the Best' among the courses of the Turkish Riviera. And who are we to argue! On the global golf stage, National is still a whippersnapper but here in Belek this is the senior track and like many a mature matron, it doesn't suffer fools gladly. From start to finish National is a tight, demanding test to the point of being petulant so don't for one minute let your guard down.
The course was planned out by Northern Irish Ryder Cup player and and ofttimes controversial CBS Golf commentator David Feherty. There's a maturity about the place that defies its age, the well-established forest and lakes making National seem centuries old. Through the years it has hosted several key events such as the Turkish Senior Open and welcomed the Ladies European Tour in May 2010.

The National Golf Club - Old Course Flyover
The Old course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr is a unique and spectacular layout. Since its inception in 1987, the Old course is regarded as one of a kind. Currently ranked number 10 in Australia, the Old features narrow fairways winding through the rugged and thick native vegetation. With tiered Mackenzie Bent greens and sharp bunkering the Old course certainly provides a wonderful test for all golfers.

Gloria Old Course, Belek, Antalya, Turkey
They call it 'Old' but in Belek nothing is that antiquated. Gloria's Old Course was one of the first built in 1997 by French designer Michael Gayan, a tree-lined hugger with tall umbrella pines eating up valuable air space.
Length might an issue for more seasoned players who can play the ball as they wish and clear awkward woodwork guarding the greens. For the rest of us, this remains a testing, strategic challenge that will make you think.
The 1st and 2nd holes are a stiff start for your average player. You stay wood-bound for a few tight holes then at the 7th it all opens out again. There are seven lakes on the course that come into play so don't think Old means feeble.
