Jinju is located in the South of Korea in Gyeongnam. And along with its river, Jinju is one of the most beautiful and iconic cities in Korea. It has a breathtaking scenic view with many tourist attractions such as Jinjuseong Fortress, Chokseongnu Pavilion, The Jinju National Museum and of course, the Jinyang lake among many others. Today, Hyesoo traveled to the city of Jinju to meet with the Mayor of Jinju and see what the city has to offer…
In 1593 when Japan invaded for the second time we call that ‘Bloody battle in Jinju’ that 70 thousand civilian soldiers were killed, there was a patriotic civil general named Gyeong heo Choi. Nongae was his concubine. After Jinju was surrendered by Japan, Nongae drown herself with Japanese general at Wae Rock below here. The general was dead and that's why she became famous and in some kind of meaning she could be named as the most honorable woman and first woman to offer one’s life in our 5000 years of history. This is the site of that story and that's how this site is meaningful.

Jinju Drone Flight: Jinju is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It was the location of the first (1592) and second (1593) Sieges of Jinju by Japanese forces during the Imjin War. The Republic of Korea Air Force Education and Training Command is located in the eastern part of the city. There are cultural-historical tourist attractions in Jinju such as Jinju Castle, the Jinju National Museum, and the Nam-gang Prehistoric Site Museum. There are cultural events held in Jinju every year. Among these are the Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival which is held in October for approximately ten days. This nationally designated cultural tourism festival, found only in Jinju, features a spectacle of lanterns floating on the Nam River to commemorate the patriotic spirit of the 70,000 militia corps and government troops who died for their country defending Jinju from the Japanese forces during the Imjin War (1592–1598). Jinju Lantern Festival (진주 남강등불 축제) [UHD]
Jinju (진주시) is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. The town is cut in half by the Nam River (Namgang), with Jinju Fortress, downtown, most hotels, the commercial-residential sprawl and the intercity bus station all on the north bank. The train station and the express bus station lie on the south bank.

At just over a third of a million, Jinju is a relatively small city by Korean standards.
There are cultural-historical tourist attractions in Jinju such as Jinju Castle, the Jinju National Museum, and the Nam-gang Prehistoric Site Museum.
Most sights in Jinju are located on the grounds of the Jinju Fortress (진주성 Jinjuseong), at the west end of the north bank. Jinju's moment of glory came in 1592 during the Imjin War, when a force of just 3,800 Koreans held off an invading army of 20,000 Japanese. Unfortunately, the Japanese came back the next year with an army of 70,000 — Jinju was finally crushed and all defenders were killed or committed suicide.

Admission to the fortress grounds costs W1000, open 9 AM to 10 PM daily.
Chokseongnu Pavilion, at the east end of the fortress. The command base during the battles of Jinju, this beautiful pavilion is next to the cliff with commanding views across the river.
Jinju National Museum, at west end of fortress, [2]. A small but well-presented branch of the National Museum specializing in the Imjin War.
Musical Fountain, a 15 minute walk west of Jinju fortress, on the river. This fountain is a must-see for any visitor to Jinju.
Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originates from the lantern lighting custom used during the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle of the Imjinwaeran War (Japanese invasion, 1592) as a military strategy to prevent Japanese troops from wading the Namgang River. The highlights of the festival are the floating of lanterns carrying personal wishes of the citizens along the Namgang River, and the parade of lanterns created by the students themselves. In addition, the festival features gaejesik (lighting of lanterns in remembrance of the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle veterans), an exhibition of the world’s traditional lanterns, and many more participatory cultural programs.

They are like a culture to be enjoyed with friends and, at times, a panacea for fatigue. They have long been a part of the lives of Koreans - a part of both their joys and sorrows.
We look at soju and makgeolli from the point of view of a son in his forties and a father in his seventies.

소주와 막걸리는 한국인에게 먹고 마시고 취하는 음식 그 의상의 의미다.

It might've been a national holiday,... but there was no time to waste for Korea's major presidential candidates on Wednesday.
They all promised, in their own ways,.. to be the candidate that would bring the country together... if elected president.
All five fanned out across the nation to woo voters ahead of the May ninth election... and with an eye on the two-day early voting period that kicked off around an hour ago.

Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate Moon Jae-in headed to Masan Gyeongsangnam-do Province on the last day before the two-day long early voting period.
Hundreds of locals gathered to show support... giving Moon's signature thumbs up - meaning both victory and his candidate number that will be on the ballots.
The liberal contender rallied across in efforts to leave a strong impression on the public's mind before some of them head to the polls taking advantage of the early voting system, the first for a presidential election in this country.
Vote, vote, vote. Exercise your right to vote. The election isn't over until it's over. Anything can happen in five days. Please stay with me until the very end.

Gyeongsangnam-do Province in Korea's southeast is traditionally a conservative hotbed,.. but Moon has been popular with the crowd here as he and his family are from this part of the country.
He unveiled targeted policy pledges customized for the region to win the hearts of more voters.
This city used to lead the nation's strong manufacturing industry. I promise to inject government support to revive the area's manufacturing sector as well as the shipbuilding and marine industries. I pledge to rebuild Changwon as a manufacturing hub.

Moon wrapped up his campaign activities for the day in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. He promised a change of government and pledged to reunite the people and the country.
