NZ Trip - National Kiwi Centre Hokitika
As the kiwis are nocturnal we had to go into a dark room to see them, sadly no photography allowed. We did however get to catch some eels etc outside.

Exploring Hokitika - New Zealand, Episode 5
Landscape photography is all about the conditions. And conditions don't always work in your favor. But when nature gives you lemons, the best thing to do is try and make some lemonade. It's been raining all day in Hokitika but that didn't stop us from exploring the gorge and the coast. It's been a challenging but incredible day and I love how it all played out.

Annoying the Crayfish at Hokitika
While visiting the excellent National Kiwi Centre in Hokitika, South Island, New Zealand recently, we noticed that a crayfish got particularly 'attentive' when I walked past. It turned out to be my orange shirt that was attracting its attention, so of course I couldn't resist a certain amount of, er, teasing it, shall we say.
Hokitika Travel
Hokitika Travel - Hokitika, gateway to the South Westland World Heritage National Park, is on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Glowworm Dell. Located just off the main highway north of Hokitika, visit this dell at night to be surrounded by sparkling glowworms. They're about a minute walk in from the road, and while the path is dark, using a bright torch will make some of the glowworms turn off. The light of a phone screen is totally enough to see by.
Hokitika Gorge. Some thirty minutes away from the town by car. Cross a swingbridge over stunning blue waters.
The National Kiwi Centre, 64 Tancred St, Hokitika, An aquarium and kiwi house. Given that kiwis are so elusive, a kiwi house such as this is likely to be your only chance to see one in real life. You can also take part in feeding the giant eels which are approximately 85 to 100 years old, and learn a lot about them in the process.
Enjoy Your Hokitika Travel!
Hokitika Gorge
A great trip, 45 minutes from Hokitika: The bluest water I've ever seen! Cold and quite a bit of current! But so great for rock jumping:)
Hokitika Sock Museum - Part 2 - Joy
Obviously things were looking up once we found the new location of Sock World: the Hokitika Sock Factory and Museum of Sock Making Equipment. This interesting place houses both historic equipment used for making socks, and they manufacture sock making machines which they ship all over the world. Lynn, the proprietress, says she travels to America twice a year for conventions and demonstrations to teach people how to use the equipment.
