Jazz Tuesdays is a weekly event featuring great jazz musicians from all over the state of Michigan, and across the country. Each week brings in a different guest artist and a new experience.
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Tyson Haynes has established himself as an innovative educator, musician, and composer. After receiving his Bachelor of Music in Jazz at the University of Oregon, Tyson earned his Master of Music Degree in Jazz at the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied and performed with Dick Oatts, Andrew Dahlke, Erik Applegate, Jim White, and David Caffey.
He has appeared on stage with many groups, including the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, Confluence Saxophone Quartet, and others. He previously served as Saxophone Instructor at Colorado Christian University and Director of Bands at Englewood Middle School, where his bands continually received the highest ratings and honors at local festivals and competitions, including Mile High Jazz Festival, Colorado Bandmasters Association, and Colorado Activities Association. In addition to teaching, Tyson founded the highly successful Englewood Jazz Camp and established a lesson scholarship program in Englewood, CO to fund private lessons for low income students.
