Parks Victoria - National Rhododendron Garden Olinda VIC Australia
Rode to the National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda, Melbourne VICTORIA AUSTRALIA. Had a stroll around and took some video footage, not much colour this time of year, it's the middle of a hot summer, so pretty dry and colorless.

National Rhododendron Gardens - Melbourne Dandenong Ranges
A stunning garden of significant reputation in the Dandenong Ranges, with extensive coloured blooms of rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas, cherries and daffodils.
With every season there is a new floral palate to experience.
Within the grounds itself you will find a large ornamental lake, sensory gardens, deep fern gullies dotted with the mighty Mountain Ash, small rock gardens and paved access throughout the whole property. Take a picnic lunch, observe the native birdlife and take a tour of the grounds on you next visit to the Melbourne's Dandenong Ranges.

Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden ( formally the National Rhododendron Garden ) | November
We visited the National Rhododendron Garden in Olinda as part of a drive up to the nearby Dandenong Ranges from our home . ( you can read more about our day trip to the nearby Dandenong Ranges : It was an overcast drizzly day and we were probably a bit late in Spring to see some of the flowering Azaleas and Rhododendrons.
The drive from Montrose through to Olinda is a magnificent one through windy roads lined with tree ferns and towering gums. Once we got to the Rhododendron Garden it was still drizzling so we got out the umbrellas and walked to the front office.
We were told that there were some beautiful Proteas in flower and headed down the path that led to the the Protea Garden. The path is made of bitchumen and nice and wide.
It was a pleasant walk with color everywhere lining the path to the where the proteas were. There were a few different types to see in varying sizes and they were all stunning.
Once we had found the protea garden we headed back up the slight incline to the office where we started. All up we did about 5 km of slow walking.
As we were leaving there were a couple of Parks Victoria rangers checking out a new sign that had been made up. It is being updated as part of a name change to the Gardens. It is now known as the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden ( formally the National Rhododendron Garden )

The National Rhododendron Gardens are host to an unparalleled of brilliantly colored blooms, mainly Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, Cherries and Daffodils.
The gardens situated at the Olinda village in the Dandenong Ranges, and is just an hour drive from Melbourne. The 40 ha. of land was part of the Olinda State Forest on the eastern ridge of Mt. Dandenong.
The gardens are a combination of individual gardens and spaces, each different. Each area, however, contains rhododendrons chosen for their growth habit and their ability to fit in with the other plants of that garden.
