National Slate Museum : Llanberis North Wales
On the flanks of Snowdon, Amgueddfa Lechi Cymru - National Slate Museum tells the very special story of the slate industry in Wales.
Dinorwig Quarry closed in 1969. Today, rather than fashioning wagons and forging rails, the workshops tell a very special story: the story of the Welsh slate industry.

The National Slate Museum is sited in the Victorian workshops built in the shadow of Elidir mountain, site of the vast Dinorwig quarry. Here you can travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiselled itself into the very being of this country.

Places to see in ( Llanberis - UK )
Llanberis is a village in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, on the southern bank of the lake Llyn Padarn and at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Llanberis takes its name from Moi Tudur, an early Welsh saint. It is twinned with the Italian town of Morbegno in Lombardy.
Llanberis is a popular centre for outdoor activities in Snowdonia, including walking, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and pony trekking as well as water sports such as Scuba Diving. The international fell race known as the Snowdon Race (Welsh: Ras Yr Wyddfa) to the summit of Snowdon begins in the village.
The ruins of Dolbadarn Castle, which were famously painted by Richard Wilson and J.M.W. Turner, stand above the village. The 13th century fortress was built by Llywelyn the Great and is a grade I listed building. The churches St Padarn are both grade II* listed buildings, as is the chapel of Capel Coch. In the 18th century Llanberis was the home of the legendary strong woman Marged Ferch Ifan.
Places of interest in and near the village include the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the National Slate Museum, the Llanberis Lake Railway, Llyn Padarn country park and Electric Mountain. Tours of Dinorwig power station are also available from a purpose-built visitor centre.
The village is a popular starting point for ascents of Snowdon because the Llanberis Path begins in the village. Although it is the longest route, it is the least strenuous route to the summit, largely following the line of the Snowdon Mountain Railway. This makes it the most popular walking route on the mountain.
The village used to be served by Llanberis railway station on a branch line of the Carnarvonshire Railway. Passenger services ceased in 1932; freight continued until closure in 1964. The heritage Snowdon Mountain Railway and Llanberis Lake Railway both have stations in the town, but serve primarily as tourist attractions instead of local transport links.
( Llanberis - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Llanberis . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Llanberis - UK

Slate Railway in North Wales, 1930's - Film 8537
Slate Railway in North Wales in 1930s. Dinorwic salte quarry near Llanberis in Wales. Narrow gauge railway.
Slate Quarrying in North Wales.
Mountains covered with snow. Near Llanberis vast heaps of broken rock which are gradually filling the lake. Buildings at the Quarries. Men at work pushing heavy trucks laden with slate.
The Dinorvic Slate Quarries. An overhead view of the quarry site. A steam locomotive puls the trucks along part of the 75 miles of double railway track. Another method of transportation for the slate is the diphwys cable with pulleys which hoist trucks and down the face of the quarry. Men working the trucks up and down with the pulley system working. The slate then goes to the workshops where short lifts are used.
Mountain Railway with each section controlled from a hut above.
Steam locomotive route taking empty trucks back to men at the quarry. The trucks are re-loaced and a Reg. No. marked on each load before it is taken away by the train.
Waste is cleared by shovel from the workshops and taken away in horsedrawn trucks.

Llanberis Pass, Wales
A trip down the Llanberis Pass in Snowdonia on 24th August 2012 on my BMW R1200RT. The light was not very good for filming but it is a lovely bit of road. The scenery is a bit different from Scotland as it's all slate. The big slate boulders you see on the right at one point were saved by local protests in the 1970s when they were to be destroyed as part of road improvements.

St Fagans National Museum of Welsh History - Cardiff, Wales | Things to do in Wales | UK Travel Vlog
In this vlog we visit St Fagans National History Museum (previously known as the Museum of Welsh Life) just outside Cardiff, South Wales. It's an open air museum and I think it's one of the best places to visit in Wales! We take a look at the new visitor centre, then we explore the historic buildings, including St Fagan's castle, the Iron Age roundhouses and the farm.
It was a gorgeous day and we had such a great time!

The 2019 CGI UK Challenge
Stage-by-stage highlights of the 2019 CGI UK Challenge, held in Snowdonia from 4-7th July.
Stage 1: 'Straight to the Point', sponsored by brandloyalty and set in the backdrop of the magnificent Caernarfon Castle, saw teams collect loyalty points by solving puzzles at various points reached by bike or on foot.
Stage 2: 'CGI Caernarfon', sponsored by CGI, saw competitors turn into investigators tasked with solving seven mysterious historical murder cases in a Cluedo-style quest.
Stage 3: 'Out of the Ordinary', sponsored by Investec and preceded by a swim start, was set in the awesome surrounds of the National Slate Museum in Llanberis and saw teams canoe their way around the stunning Lyn Padarn, to 'buy' and 'sell' stocks at various points across the lake.
Stage 4: 'Game of Tribes', sponsored by PWC, was our highly strategic, 5-hour epic that saw teams split into pairs and cycle, run and row to strategically capture and defeat tribes with a massive prize on offer to teams who scaled Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon.
Stage 5: 'T-otal Recall', sponsored by T-Systems was preceded by the daunting 'Step Challenge' and held in the newly-built Adventure Parc Snowdonia. Starting with a paddle-board sprint and introducing a technological element, teams were tested on their memory recall in a highly intelligence-based stage.
Stage 6: 'The Pharma King', sponsored by Clinigen, saw the University Sports Hall become a stock market style trading floor as teams earned capital from answering puzzles and strategically investing in the right pharmaceutical companies.
Stage 7: 'Critical Flight Path', sponsored by Airbus, was our iconic Grand Prix stage where physical endurance comes to the fore and teams are pushed to their limits to both cycle and run their way to the finish line, a uniquely rewarding and exhilarating experience for the hard work of the previous three days efforts.
