National Space Centre Leicester, England
The National Space Centre is one of the United Kingdom's leading visitor attractions that is devoted to space science and astronomy. It is located in the city of Leicester, England, The centre arose from a partnership between the University of Leicester's Space Research Centre and local government agencies. The total construction cost was £52m, £26m of which came from a Millennium Commission grant, and the rest from private sector sponsors. It is run as an educational charity, and offers science workshops for school children of all ages. The Centre has on display the only known Soyuz spacecraft in Western Europe (in the United States, another Soyuz spacecraft is at the Smithsonian Institution as part of their Apollo-Soyuz Test Project display).
The centre has six main galleries of exhibits and visitor activities covering space flight, astronomy and cosmology. The attraction also includes a Digistar 3 dome cinema and planetarium, a gift shop and a restaurant. The restaurant is situated beneath the two nozzles of the Blue Streak and PGM-17 Thor rockets.

We had great time the staff was very helpful. The place was clean it was easy to fine from M1. The cafe had lots good food choice and price was good. I cant not think any bad. I had nice family day out.

The National Space Centre is a museum and educational resource covering the fields of space science and astronomy, along with a space research programme in partnership with the University of Leicester. It is located on the north side the city of Leicester, England, next to the River Soar. Many of the exhibits, including upright rockets, are housed in a tower with minimal steel supports and a semi-transparent cladding of ETFE 'pillows'[1] which has become one of Leicester's most recognisable landmarks.

THOR Rocket Launch at Leicester National Space Centre
Here you see the Space Rocket 'THOR PGM 17' in its 'Countdown and Lift off' sequence.
About every 15 minutes, this installation will emit dry ice and a BOSE enhance Rocket rumble shakes the whole place! This stands just above the cafeteria / restaurant area and the visitors love it!
This United States Air Force THOR Rocket stands on Display in the 'Rocket Tower' of the National Space Centre, Leicester, Leicestershire. UK. It stands beside the Blue Streak Space Rocket which is Europe's first Space Rocket attempt.
THOR was originally a ICBM and acted as part of the UK's nuclear deterrent through the 1960s. (Designed to carry a 1.5 Megaton hydrogen bomb)

We went on a family day at at the National Space Centre in Leicester to look at all the rockets and space men and things. Very cool place, lots to see and do! We liked the spacemen, spaceships and rockets. Recommended for a great day out!
