In February 2017 Taiwan's Ministry of Culture announced plans to transform the hall into a national center for “facing history, recognizing agony, and respecting human rights.” A corresponding de-emphasis of the Chiang personality cult is underway as proposals for transforming the hall are reviewed.
The square became Taipei's site of choice for mass gatherings as soon as it opened. The nature of many of those gatherings gave the site new public meanings. The hall and square became the hub of events in the 1980s and early 1990s that ushered Taiwan into its era of modern democracy. Of the many pro-democracy demonstrations that took place at the square, the most influential were the rallies of the Wild Lily student movement of 1990. The movement provided the impetus for the far-reaching political reforms of President Lee Teng-hui. These culminated in the first popular elections of national leaders in 1996.
The site's importance in the development of Taiwan's democracy led to the plaza's dedication as Liberty Square by President Chen Shui-bian in 2007.[2] Memorial Hall was also renamed in a dedication to democracy. The announcement of the new names were greeted with hostility by Kuomintang officials. The original dedication to Chiang was subsequently restored to the hall by President Ma Ying-jeou, while the name Liberty Square was affirmed by officials across political parties.
In 2017, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the February 28 Incident and the 30th anniversary of the lifting of martial law, Taiwan's Ministry of Culture announced plans to transform the hall into a national center for “facing history, recognizing agony, and respecting human rights.” Scholars and experts were invited to form an advisory group to help plan the hall's transformation.
The Chinese inscription now over the main gate declares the plaza Liberty Square. The calligraphic style recalls that of Wang Xizhi in the East Jin Dynasty (see Chinese calligraphy). The style is noted for its sense of vitality, movement and freedom. The characters in the inscription are placed in left-to-right sequence to follow modern practice in Taiwan. The right-to-left order of ancient Chinese tradition had been adopted at the site previously.
Evergreen Maritime Museum Walk Through (Taipei, Taiwan)
Evergreen Maritime Museum / 長榮海事博物館 is a maritime museum in Zhongzheng District, Taipei. After nearly a decade of planning, the museum was opened on 7 October 2008.
The Evergreen Maritime Museum consists of multiple exhibitions spanning five floors including scale models, dioramas, maps and globes, various navigational equipment, anchors, graphic timelines and vessel backgrounds, and interactive games for kids. There is also a special section dedicated to the Titanic as well as some poignant artifacts from Titanic passengers. The ground floor is free to the public and features a cafe and a gift shop.
Floors 2-5 include comprehensive showcases of scale model ships both ancient and modern along with other memorabilia. Though not apparent from the museum's official website, the permanent collection on display on these floors is vast and of high quality.

The museum is accessible within walking distance from two MRT stations. One way is southeast from NTU Hospital Station of the Taipei Metro. Another way to the museum is from MRT Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, Exit 5 of Taipei Metro and crossing main plaza of the Chiang Kai Chek Memorial, National Theatre and Concert Hall.

香港小交響樂團將於11月首度在臺灣獻演，分別於臺北及高雄舉行兩場音樂會，並且為「香港週2016」參與節目之一。為隆重其事，香港小交響樂團音樂總監葉詠詩特邀臺灣二胡明星演奏家王瀅絜攜手合作，演奏由香港作曲家陳慶恩為胡琴及樂團所寫的新作《月魄》，融會中西音樂風格，結合港臺兩地出色的藝術家，突破地域及古典音樂界限。此外，樂團亦會攜同香港傑出鋼琴家李嘉齡出訪，一同演繹法國作曲家拉威爾的G大調鋼琴協奏曲。
音樂會節目還包括蕭斯達高維契別出心裁的第九交響曲。音樂會將於11月19日及20日分別在臺北市中山堂中正廳及高雄大東文化藝術中心演藝廳舉行。
Hong Kong Sinfonietta will make its début in Taiwan this November, giving two concerts in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively as part of the programme of Hong Kong Week 2016.
Led by Music Director/Conductor Yip Wing-sie, the orchestra will collaborate with Taiwan’s foremost huqin player Wang Ying-chieh in the world première of Ethereal Is The Moon, a huqin concerto composed by Hong Kong composer Chan Hing-yan. The orchestra will also be joined by Hong Kong pianist Colleen Lee in Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G; and the programme will conclude with Shostakovich’s Symphony No 9. The two concerts will be held at Taipei Zhongshan Hall Zhongzheng Auditorium and Kaohsiung City Dadong Arts Center Performance Hall on 19 and 20 November respectively.

Ecosystem Trench is an environmentally-friendly area with energy conserving plant irrigation channels. A wide collection of plants can be found in this area include Water primrose, Eurasian watermilfoil, Sedge, Wite ginger lily and many other plants that represent Hakka people.
Food Court serves a wide array of Hakka specials to fulfill your taste buds. The Food Court area is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, where one may sample Hakka cuisines while appreciating the surrounding beauties outside.
The Hakka Theatre is where visitor may enjoy Hakka traditional performances and operas that are mostly performed during banquets and religious ceremonies. Hakka music is composed by 8 major tones include gold, stone, silk, bamboo, gourd, clay, leather and wood that well-integrate with the original Hakka music.
Oblation Furnace, also known as the Holy Monument Pavilion, represents the respect of Hakka people toward scholars and knowledge. Back in the past, each Hakka household keeps a waste-paper basket under the family’s altar to keep the papers that were no more needed. An elder would collect and gather the papers to incinerate at the Oblation Furnace, which has became a symbol of the Hakka people to show their respect towards scholars and knowledge.
Pavilion of Bagon worships the Earth God, also known as Bagon. The Earth God is respected as the most important patron saint in Hakka’s culture. The Pavilion of Bagon was found in small scale using stones or woods.
Rural Experience Zone is where visitors may experience traditional farm and agricultural life of the Hakka people. Star fruits, longan, guava, banana and a number of fruit trees are available here.
Tabacco Building features the old features of tobacco industry to represent the hardworking characteristic of the Hakka people. As tobacco industry fetched a higher price than other crops back in old days, many Hakka families chose to plant tobacco, and tobacco barns became an indentifying marker of the Hakka villages.

Pandas World Tour-Taipei, Taiwan (1600 貓熊世界之旅-臺北)
Over 1,600 paper-mache made giant pandas designed by French artist Paulo Grangeon are on display during the second round of the Pandas World Tour (1600貓熊世界之旅-臺北) exhibition at the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Liberty Square in Taipei, Taiwan on March 17, 2014. The exhibition ends March 30.
The pandas earlier appeared at the adjacent National Theatre and at the Taipei City Hall Square. Liberty Square is located between the National Concert Hall and the National Theater.
Over one million people went to the previous paper panda exhibition at the Taipei City Hall Plaza that was held between Feb. 28 and March 9.
The Pandas World Tour exhibition was launched in 2008 by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to highlight the plight of the endangered species and the need to protect them. The 1,600 pandas were created from recycled paper to represent the actual number of pandas left in the world.
For the Taiwan exhibition, Grangeon specially created an additional 200 Formosan black bears and a green tree frog in support of wildlife protection acts for local animals.
The exhibition is being held in Asia for the first time and has toured over 20 countries worldwide. The paper animals will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to local charities after the exhibition closes.

Walk Taipei Presidential Office Building, Chiang Kai shek Memorial Hall 中正紀念堂
I began at the Chongqing south road up to the Presidential Office Building make a left at the Ketagalan blvd. until the Taipei East Gate. After that I made my way to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (中正紀念堂).
I began this video where I started my last walk from. At the Chongqing South Road. I was staying at the hotel on that street. I started to explore early morning around 6:30 to 7 AM so that there is enough sunlight that I can film. Don't be surprised if there are no people yet on the streets during this time.

In 2012, Waterfield Studio completed the record collecting its performance art encounters with other Asian cities from 2005 to 2011. During the various activities with those cities, we found that the importance of encounters lies in profound exchanges of cultural concepts. Therefore, this year Waterfield Studio expects to not only meet other cities but invite Asian performance artists to Tiwan through numerous connections. The bilateral plan includes exchanges in a variety of aspects such as methods, experiences, creations.

14-Day Solo Backpacking in Taiwan | Travel Vlog and Guide
Taiwan has extended their free visa for Filipino until July 31,2020. So if you're planning to go on a trip soon, you might wanna check this travel guide I prepared.
About Taiwan:
TAIWAN is one of the Philippines' neighbouring country which is located in East Asia and was tagged as the Heart of Asia. It's mostly mountainous in the east with gently sloping plain in the west. Railways in Taiwan are primarily used for passenger services that's why it's a less hassle traveling around area.

THIS isn't the 1st time I go on a solo backpacking abroad. In 2017, I also went solo when I traveled to Bangkok for the 2nd time. At first, I was really hesitant to travel in Taiwan since it's not that easy to pass the immigration and I'm still afraid that I might be offloaded. But I didn't get a hard time when I passed the immigration. The IO only asked me why I'll be traveling to Taiwan and when will I return then they let me onboarded. I wasn't really expecting too much when I visited Taiwan and my original plan is to hike Mt. Jade which is the highest peak in Taiwan and part of the Asian Trilogy but for some reason, the event was canceled. I only planned to stay there just for 1 week but unexpectedly I fall in love with Taiwan so I decided to rebook my flight and extended for another week.

Travel Tips for Budget Travelers:
1. Always wait for PisoFare or Seat Sale before you book your flight.
2. Light Pack to avoid baggage allowance fee (wag na masyado magootd para lang may pangIG. ????)
3. Download Klook or KKDay to purchase your easycard, 4G LTE SIM and train ticket. (No need to buy Unlimited Fun Pass, mas tipid pa din gamitin ung easy card since mura lang naman yung train and bus fare and mostly naman ng pasyalan sa Taiwan walang entrance fee.)
4. Always bring USD when exchanging to NTD. (lugi ka pag php to ntd)
5. Best time to travel Taiwan is between Oct-Mar since the temperature is relatively mild.
6. Where to stay in Taipei. The most convenient place is in Ximending Area since it's very accessible to MRT and close to almost every tourist attraction in Taipei.
7. How to avoid being offloaded. You don't have to worry if you are a frequent traveler. Just make sure you have your itinerary and return ticket flight. For first timer, always prepare your documents like ITR, COE, Bank Statement or any proof of income. Be consistent and direct to the point if the IO is asking you questions. Less talk, less mistake.
8. Just have fun and seize the moment.

Evergreen Maritime Museum / 長榮海事博物館 (Slideshow)
Evergreen Maritime Museum / 長榮海事博物館 is a maritime museum in Zhongzheng District, Taipei. After nearly a decade of planning, the museum was opened on 7 October 2008.
The Evergreen Maritime Museum consists of multiple exhibitions spanning five floors including scale models, dioramas, maps and globes, various navigational equipment, anchors, graphic timelines and vessel backgrounds, and interactive games for kids. There is also a special section dedicated to the Titanic as well as some poignant artifacts from Titanic passengers. The ground floor is free to the public and features a cafe and a gift shop.
Floors 2-5 include comprehensive showcases of scale model ships both ancient and modern along with other memorabilia. Though not apparent from the museum's official website, the permanent collection on display on these floors is vast and of high quality.
The exhibitions are divided by the following categories:
- Maritime Taiwan
- Marine Paintings
- Modern Ships
- History of Ships
Open on Tuesday--Sunday: 9:00--17:00
Closures: Every Monday (open on national holidays) Chinese New Year's Eve Day-off due to natural disaster Other planned closures announced on the official website.
The museum is accessible within walking distance from two MRT stations. One way is southeast from NTU Hospital Station of the Taipei Metro. Another way to the museum is from MRT Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, Exit 5 of Taipei Metro and crossing main plaza of the Chiang Kai Chek Memorial, National Theatre and Concert Hall.
