Reykjavík Arts Festival (L)
The Reykjavik Arts Festival is an annual multidisciplinary festival with a special focus on new commissions and the creative intersection of the arts. For two weeks every year it brings together major cultural venues and unconventional spaces throughout the city in exhibitions and performances of contemporary and classical works, presented to the widest possible audience.
Since its inception in 1970, the Reykjavík Arts Festival has invited hundreds of artists from all parts of the globe to perform or exhibit at the festival. Through this activity, the RAF has helped to create a vast network of connections between national and non-national artists, been a catalyst for the creation of new works and a major force in the development of cultural diversity in Iceland.
The 28th edition of the Reykjavík Arts Festival will take place from 22 May to 5 June 2014.

Björk's full set from the National Theatre, Reykjavík, on 6 January 1999. If you like this, support Björk by seeing her live, buying her official live and studio recordings, and visiting bjork.com. This is for nonprofit, educational purposes only. I don't own the copyright.
This was originally shown on Icelandic television. All tracks from this set are already on YouTube, but I thought it would be a treat to have the entire set as a single video.

The Diamond Beach in Iceland
Part 1 link
Iceland's Diamond Beach is a must see if you are planning a trip here.
This is where the Icebergs leave the Jökulsárlón and enter the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately their life is very short and usually end up crashing up on the beach and slowly melting away.

REYKJAVIK 2018
During our family trip to Iceland, we had a chance to visit the cute town of Reykjavik. Considered a small town to most, yet Reykjavik houses 80% of Iceland's total population. This once small fishing village is now a popular destination because of it's quirky culture, eclectic mix of people, colorful buildings, and vibrant street art.

SACRIFICE
„Religion is essentially the art and the theory of the remaking of man. Man is not a finished creation.“ Edmund Burke.
SACRIFICE was performed 5 times at Reykjavik City Theater: 16. march, 23. march, 29. march, 2. april and 9. april.
Iceland Dance Company present SACRIFICE, a collection of new commanding creations exploring the relationship between art and religion. Inspired by the idea of the ritual as an essential part of life, SACRIFICE takes over Reykjavík City Theatre in a celebration of dance, art and music where audiences move from one space to the next, experiencing a different ritual in each place. No Tomorrow, a new creation by performance- and visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and choreographer Margrét Bjarnadóttir. A ballet for eight dancers and eight guitars to the music by The National’s Bryce Dessner. Union of the North, created by renowned American visual artist Matthew Barney, choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir and musician Valdimar Jóhannsson is a performative video installation, attempting to fuse together consumerism and the spiritual in an act of marriage. Dies Irae by visual artist Gabriela Friðriksdóttir is part video-installation, part choreographed ritual that focuses on the transition from life to death. Made in collaboration with Ómarsdóttir and Jóhannsson, the video also serves as an inspiration for their choreography, Shrine. Finally the festivities reach an immersive peak at the already bustling Market, where people present their beliefs, ideas and solutions for a sustainable future.
