Yoyogi National Gymnasium 国立代々木競技場 | VENUE NAVI JAPAN
Episode 1 of VENUE NAVI JAPAN!
Yoyogi National Gymnasium is pretty easy to get to if you take the right station. For the easiest route, take the Yamanote Line towards Shibuya and remember to exit at Harajuku Station, NOT Yoyogi. It's just right up the hill, you won't miss it!
Let me know if there are any venues you want to know how to get to! And don't worry, I'll be sure to get the confusing ones too!

JAPAN | EP3 | TOKYO - Walk to Harajuku & Yoyogi National Stadium
Meiji Jingu shrine is a shrine amidst a huge forest, a forest within the city! This is really where Japan is very known, the co-existence of HERITAGE & MODERNITY. A holy paradise indeed! Internationall known as the CENTER OF JAPANESE YOUTH CULTURE & FASHION, Harajuku is a wide area of Tokyo which encompasses many famous architectural edifices like the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Tokyo National Stadium, and 2013 Pritzker prize awardee Japanese architect Toyo Ito's TOD'S OMOTESANDO! This famous avenue is known around the world as the TOKYO'S MOST LUXURIOUS AVENUE because this is actually the place of world's luxurious products like Louis Vitton, Chanel & Paul Stuart! I just wanna tell a story about my experience here. I WAS SHOCKED when our coordinator gave us the personal maps for us to go around the district, 'coz I felt so much OMG when I saw OMOTESANDO on the very upper part of the paper. I asked Ms. Yukiko if we could go to Omotesando but she said it's kinda far from the meeting place. I just really wanted to see my favorite building there which is the TOD'S OMOTESANDO 'coz it's the famous work of my favorite Japanese architect Toyo Ito (2013 Pritzker Prize Laureate Awardee). So I promised to myself that I won't go back to the bus without my picture on that building HAHAHA! And shit it's really TOOOOOO FAR! OMG I could faint already 'coz I couldn't see the metabolist structure despite of the very long walk! So I lose hope, since it's already getting 11AM everybody's calling for the delegates. HUHU So I ended up crying. And then when I got back to the bus I immediately checked google map and SHITTY EPIC FAIL talaga! ISANG BLOCK NALANG PALA UNG BUILDING FROM LOUIS VITTON NA PINAKA-LAST KONG NAPICTURAN SA AVENUE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ME TALAGA DIBA?!?! HAHAHA... But yuh, since I still had little time to walk, I just took a visit to the YOYOGI NATIONAL GYMNASIUM alone which is actually beside our meeting place, kaya happy pa rin ako nakaalis sa Shibuya. ^_^

Yoyogi Park
Yoyogi Park (代々木公園 Yoyogi kōen) is one of the largest parks in Tokyo, Japan located adjacent to Harajuku Station and Meiji Shrine in Shibuya.
History
Yoyogi Park stands on the site from where the first successful powered aircraft flight in Japan took place by Captain Yoshitoshi Tokugawa on 19 December 1910. The area later became an army parade ground. From September 1945, the sited housed the military barracks known as the Washington Heights for U.S. officers during the Allied occupation of Japan.
In 1964, the area was used for the Tokyo Olympics housing the main athletes village and the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. The distinctive building, which was designed by Kenzo Tange, hosted the swimming and diving, with an annex for the basketball.
In 1967 most of the area north of the gymnasium complex and south of Meiji Shrine was turned into Yoyogi Park.
The park remains a popular Tokyo destination. On Sundays, it is especially busy when it is used as a gathering place for Japanese rock music fans. In spring, thousands of people visit the park to enjoy the cherry blossom during hanami. The landscaped park has picnic areas, bike paths, cycle rentals and public sport courts.
Tokyo's failed bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics included a proposal to redevelop Yoyogi Park. A new volleyball arena was to be built west of the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. It would have replaced an existing soccer field and athletic field. The arena would have remained after the Olympics as a multiple use venue.

Yoyogi Park
Yoyogi Park (代々木公園 Yoyogi kōen) is one of the largest parks in Tokyo, Japan located adjacent to Harajuku Station and Meiji Shrine in Shibuya.
What is now Yoyogi Park was the site of the first successful powered aircraft flight in Japan, on December 19, 1910, by Captain Yoshitoshi Tokugawa, after which it became an army parade ground. During the post World War II occupation, it was the site of the Washington Heights residence for U.S. officers. It was later the site for the main Olympic athletes village of the 1964 Summer Olympics and the swimming, diving, and basketball venues. The distinctive Yoyogi National Gymnasium which hosted swimming, diving, and basketball was designed by Kenzo Tange for the Olympics, and is still in use, but most of the area north of the gymnasium complex and south of Meiji Shrine was turned into a city park in 1967.
Today, the park is a popular hangout, especially on Sundays, when it is used as a gathering place for people to play music, practice martial arts, etc. The park has a bike path, a public basketball court[1], and bicycle rentals are available. As a consequence of Japan's long recession, there are several large, but quiet and orderly, homeless camps around the park's periphery.

Vlog12 Philippine Festival at Yoyogi Park
Philippine Festival 2019
NOV. 30 ~ DEC. 1, 2019
9:00AM - 5:00PM
#Vlog12 Philippine Festival Japan is he biggest and most awaited Filipino event in Japan.
#Filipinoslovehavingfun, and the #Philippines is known as the “land of festivals”. Each city or town of the archipelago has its own unique festival or fiesta.
Celebrating historic or religious events, a good harvest, or a product which a particular place is famous for, festivals are held across the country throughout the year, making them an indispensable part of Philippine culture.
This love for festivals is carried by Filipinos even when they are abroad. Here in Japan, volunteers from the Filipino community led by the #PhilippineFestival Organizing Committee and the Embassy of the Philippines, have organized the Philippine Festival annually since 2012 to bring expatriate Filipinos together and at the same time introduce Philippine cuisine, music, dance and products to Japanese and international friends.
