For awesome videos videos shot in the wild I would suggest to go Liaan Lantagen channel on youtube or his instagram account or his Facebook picture page.
These videos are shot as I have seen them. My purpose for the trip was not holiday. Each seen has more significant meaning for meaning for me. Unfortunately this also means that these videos are not definitive or comprehensive. There is minimum amount of processing with the material, to keep the video as authentic as possible. There is no music just the actual voices. Highly produced nice looking films can be found somewhere else. This is supposed to look true and raw. Videos have been shot with iPhone 6s plus .
Trip to the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa/Pretoria Zoo
I took a little trip to the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa, or as it’s more informally known, the Pretoria zoo, the largest zoo in South Africa and considered one of the best zoos in the world.
Unfortunately, as said in the disclaimer, I did not realize my camera was not so good at recording video. If I ever do something like this again I’ll make sure to get a better camera.

Gorillas at the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa (Pretoria Zoo) taken July 22, 2013
I spent some quality hours with the Gorillas at the Pretoria Zoo (NZG of SA) observing their behaviour whilst they were lounging around and feeding.
The caretakers took a log drilled a few holes in it then filled it with honey. Apparently this helps to keep the gorillas occupied otherwise they get bores. This helps break the boredom as you will notice with this silver back using a twig getting trying to get his share of the honey.

The aim was to create awareness about this Non Profit Organisation and raise funds. We hosted a 100m Paralympic race and 5km race at the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa. The race was advertised on radio, newspapers, social media platforms and at the ticket booth entrance of the Pretoria Zoo.

Knowledge and skills acquired by the group as a whole:
To operate a big sander that was used to take off the top layer of the wooden tables.
- Team work and communicating.

We upgraded an area right next to the Elephant enclosure. We cemented, fixed holes, painted and renovated the whole area to make it look more presentable.
We all gained new skills and learnt how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical work. On top of that we learnt to be patient as not everything always goes according to plan and people are not always very helpful. The opportunity enriched us in a way because we got the chance to give our personal time to help out a community.

JCP 2015 Group 4, National Zoological Gardens of SA - Digital Printing
This was a project of the Community-Based Project of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology of the University of Pretoria.
We as group did some work for the National Zoological Gardens ofSouth Africa in Pretoria. It was our job to make digital copies of existing artworks they provided us with of various animals, insects, birds, etc.
We also had to make sure the images were free of any smudges, scratches and much more.
This was not enough for us, so we asked the NZG for more work, and they asked us to build a pinhole camera as well as a camera obscura for them the use in their annual science day.
We learnt a lot more about the art of digital conversion, and photoshop. The manual labour, and thrill of building something scientific also taught us much about how to work with our hands.
It was a great experience for us, and we hope you enjoy the video! :)
