SCRIPT

Rescuer workers searched for the body of a 9-year-old boy killed alongside his younger sister when a mud geyser erupted in the natural reserve of Macalube of Aragon on Saturday. The siblings, nine year-old Carmelo and seven year-old Laura Mulone, were killed by geyser spilling around 30-40 cubic metres of mud and toxic gas into the air.

Seven-year-old Laura was airlifted to hospital, where she later died of her injuries. The children, accompanied by their father, were visiting the natural reserve to celebrate Carmelo's birthday.

The Integral Natural Reserve Macalube of Aragon is a regional nature reserve in Sicily, located around 15 km from Agrigento.
