Canada/Kanada (White Rock &Tofino Vancouver Island) Part 2
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
White Rock is a city in British Columbia, Canada, that lies within the Metro Vancouver regional district. It borders Semiahmoo Bay and is surrounded on three sides by the City of Surrey, British Columbia. To the south lies the Semiahmoo First Nation, which is within the city limits of Surrey. Semiahmoo Bay and the Southern Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia are also to the south.
The boundaries between White Rock and Surrey are Bergstrom Road (136 Street) to the west, North Bluff Road (16th Avenue) to the north, Stayte Road (160 Street) to the east, and 8th Avenue to the south. The area south of 8 Avenue from Stayte Road westward to where 8 Avenue meets the water is the Semiahmoo Indian Reserve and lies within the bounds of the City of Surrey (though it is governed separately). The Surrey neighbourhoods of Ocean Park and Crescent Beach lie immediately to the northwest.
White Rock pier on a warm August dayWhite Rock has a moderate climate, with average daily high temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius in summer and 6 degrees Celsius in winter. Pilots accustomed to flying around the area often refer to it as 'the hole in the sky', referring to the fact that White Rock is often bright and sunny while the rest of the Lower Mainland is covered by cloud.
The pier and promenade are popular destinations, but do not allow dogs, bicycles or skateboards. These areas are very busy during the warmer summer months.
Tofino is a district of about 1,876 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4, on the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound. The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography.A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino's population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, although many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane.Wikipedia

Canadian Surfing -- Tofino, British Columbia
Little do most people know, Canada has a thriving surf scene. In the frigid Pacific waters on the country's west coast, the small community of Tofino's surf culture thrives year round.
While we Canadians are known to love the outdoors, even I was intrigued to learn more about this town's cold water surfing pastime. To better understand the local surf culture, I spoke with a number of local surfers.
Tofino is located on the coastline that also happens to be a protected rainforest. Yes, a rainforest in Canada. It doesn't snow in this part of Canada, contrary to the international stereotype of the whole country as the Great White North... Instead, on this mild Pacific coastline, it rains. And rains. And rains... Yearly rainfall in Tofino is around 130 inches. But through it all, rain or shine, clad in warm wetsuits, locals love to surf!

10. British Columbia, 1967
In 1967, British Columbia became a hub of mermaid excitement when, one day, Ferry riders spotted a mermaid lounging on the shore of Mayne Island. They claimed they saw a topless, blonde woman with the tail of a porpoise sitting on the beach shore. Some witnesses even became very upset, as they believed they saw the mermaid eating a raw salmon. One tourist from Iowa even managed to take a picture.
After the sighting, the mermaid was seen one more time the following week. As the locals got swept up by the spotting of this mysterious mermaid, the town locals began to seek any information relating to her. The town newspaper, The Colonist, put up a $25,000 reward for the mermaid. Arrangements were even made for the mermaid to have room and board once she was found and successfully acclimated into the town setting. Although many believe that the whole thing was a charade, many still believe that what they saw was real.
9. Scotland, 1830
Mermaids are a part of Scotland’s countless mysteries and legends. It’s not surprising, then, that there would be many accounts of mermaid sightings.
In 1830, the people of the island of Benbecula saw a mermaid. While cutting seaweed near the shore one day, a woman reportedly saw a miniature woman swimming in the water. Surprised by her discovery, she called many people over to view the water dweller. Some men rushed at her in the water, either to catch her or get a closer look, and the woman swam out of reach. Some boys threw stones at the frightened mermaid and one struck her in the back. A few days later, the corpse of the mermaid supposedly washed up on the shore.
Like many of the other claims of mermaids, this one was small, with pale white skin and had the tail of a fish without scales. After the discovery, the sheriff of the town thought it only fitting that the mermaid have a proper burial. Someone constructed a coffin and the mermaid, wrapped in a shroud, was laid to rest above the shoreline where she was found. To this day, no one knows exactly where the mermaid was buried as no marker was left to denote the spot.
8. West Indies, 1614
John Smith, the same John Smith from Pocahontas, reported that he saw a mermaid off the coast of West Indies in 1614. According to the story, Smith saw a woman swimming parallel to the shore. He was captivated by the grace in which she moved and noted that she had ears that were too long, a nose that was too short, eyes that were too round, and green hair. He also noted that the woman was a little attractive from the waist up. From the waist down, however, she was all fish.
Some doubt has been thrown on the veracity of the tale of course, otherwise where would the mystery be. One source claims he wasn’t in the West Indies but in Newfoundland. Another historian says Smith wasn’t in the West Indies in 1614, though he was there in 1607. Potato patato in this case. The same historian suggested that Alexandre Dumas fabricated the tale to give credence to his own mermaid story about a Frenchman searching for a Dutchman who had four children with a mermaid.
7. Norway, 1608
In 1608, Henry Hudson explored the cold northern waters off Norway. Written in his journal, he describes a day when he encountered a group of mermaids. Hudson claimed a mermaid appeared in the water, saw his crew and called up more of her mermaid sisters. He described the women as being as big as the men in his crew, with very white skin and long dark hair. He claimed their tails looked like a dolphin’s but were spotted like a mackerel. Hudson was thrilled that he had discovered mermaids.
What makes this case so strange is that it occurred in the Bering Sea. Most mermaid sightings are discounted as sailors mistaking animals, often manatees, as mermaids. However, no manatees swim the waters of the Bering Sea. Naturalist Philip Henry Gosse, in his mid-1800s work The Romance of Natural History, believes it to be impossible that Hudson mistook an animal for this mermaid. He believes seasoned sailors such as Hudson would be able to identify animals in that location easily. Gosse believes either Hudson made this entire story up or Hudson saw something truly unique to the realm of science. We may never know.

ADVENTURE TO SECRET BC LAKE
Living in the beautiful province of British Columbia seriously doesn't get old. We are surrounded by mountains, trails, wild life, lakes, and huge bodies of water. West coast life could not get any better and for that I am so thankful!
But somehow because you live here you get so caught up in the busyness of the city, work, and your personal life, that you forget to explore what is around you every once in a while.
It is the complete opposite from when you travel to a place for the first time because your goal is to see everything in such a short amount of time, and on the other hand when you live here, you think you have all the time in the world so you think you will eventually see it all.
This day trip was exactly what I needed to relax and enjoy the summer with my close friends, one being Small City Folk (Youtube), she will be quitting her job and moving to the Isle of Skye in Scotland in the next few months and vlogging all her travel and how she has adapted to the country life.

Canadian Rockies & Western Canada ROAD TRIP ULTIMATE GUIDE
Ultimate guide : 60 FREE must-see and must-do Canadian Rockies and Western Canada. Full list below
Hi guys,
Let’s follow us across the 60 must-see bucket list across Alberta, Canadian Rockies, Northern British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska. From the dry east Alberta curiosities, we went through the beautiful Banff and Jasper National Park and to Alaska. We challenged our legs in steep trail and met the Northern B.C big animals. Relaxed in hot springs and tasted rare dishes in Chateau Fairmont Lake Louise. Camped in exceptional spots near lake or river. Attached a personalized sign somewhere in Watson Lake’s Signpost Forest. Crossed the Alaskian border. Tested the robustness of our van onto the unpaved Top-of-the-world highway. Looked for gold in historic gold rush town. Have the chance to see the Northern Lights in Dawson City. Discovered the First Nations dances and song in Carcross. Stole sand from Carcross desert. Randomly, we met a French couple travelling like us with who we share some barbecue parties and fishing time. Please, check the bucket list below. Most of them are FREE. Comment and like the video.

Too close to a Grizzly Bear | Austin Stevens Adventures | E01 | Free Documentary Nature
Austin heads to Western Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest in search of a full-grown grizzly bear. And he’s not taking any chances; he’s timed his mission to coincide with the annual salmon run, which lures bears of all sizes out into the open for feeding.
After flying in to one of British Columbia’s remote coastal islands, Austin patrols the inland rivers in search of grizzlies. Austin battles torrential rivers, downpours and mountainous terrain in his search for these great bears and is finally rewarded; he finds a young male grizzly fishing the rivers. Austin gets some great photos but it’s not the full grown adult he’s after. After days of searching and spotting bears either too young or distant to photograph, Austin finally spots a mother grizzly with cubs. He follows, cutting inland through dense forest. When he finally emerges, Austin finds himself in the most extraordinary valley. And face to face with full grown mother grizzly.
Also in this episode… Austin encounters a chirping Canadian Western toad, and walks through rivers teeming with spawning salmon.
Did you know…?
• One of the world’s largest land predators, grizzly bears weigh four times as much as the average man.
• Grizzly bears can easily outrun humans
• Shy and elusive, these great swimmers have a sense of smell hundreds of times more sensitive than ours.
• Bear cubs usually stay with their mothers for two and a half years.

Black Widow VS Brown Recluse! - Which is Deadlier?
Subscribe!
North America has two spiders that are pretty notorious for the bites being deadly: the black widow, and the brown recluse, but which is deadlier? One notorious for extreme side effects and pain, the other known for its necrotic, flesh eating venom. Which of these two tiny titans is deadlier? LET’S FIND OUT!
Join Cajun Boy (Zachary Gray) as we talk about all the unique aspects of these two notorious spiders, and talk about which of the two reigns supreme as North America’s deadliest spider! It’s the black widow vs the brown recluse! As always, we hope y’all enjoy this video! :D
While neither of these spiders would come close to the title of the world deadliest spider, they both pack extremely potent venom. The black widow venom, being mostly neurotoxic, while the brown recluse has mostly hemotoxic venom. This means a black widow spider bite has completely different effects from a brown recluse spider bite, but they are both very harmful to the human body. If you ever believe you’ve been bit by any spider, the best thing to do, is to put ice on the bite zone, and seek medical treatment. Most spider bites normally have no adverse effects, and you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than dying to a spider bite, however, you can’t go wrong getting any spider bite treated.
Welcome to the Life's Wild Adventure channel! With lots of adventure, fun, and most importantly, animals! Join Zachary Gray, a young wildlife enthusiast, on all of his adventures with some of the most unique creature on the planet! From the smallest ants, to the big dinosaur like crocodilians, this channel is all about getting YOU into wildlife! This channel is all about animal education and exploration, learning about the world around us, and the animals we share it with!

Situated in one of the finest rural-residential areas in Canada on the Northern tip of Vancouver Island’s Saanich Peninsula, the Queen Mary Bay property is an incredible opportunity for residential or commercial investor alike. This densely forested 24.57-acre parcel is the largest waterfront property on the Pacific Northwest coast within ten minutes of an international airport offering potential for development as either a private ecologically pristine estate, or sub-divided into a residential housing community.
The prestigious Land’s End community offers discerning investors both privacy, and seclusion in addition to incredibly convenient access to international air-travel. Victoria International Airport (YYJ) offers more than 100 daily non-stop flights throughout North America, and has been rated among one of the top ten most-loved airports in the world by CNN Travel, was twice named the Best Airport in North America serving up to 2 million passengers by Airports Council International, and was recently recognized in 2017 as the winner of the EcoStar award for Ecological Stewardship. Offering passengers a small, ultra-convenient terminal, extensive modern improvements and upgrades completed over the last five years, and a 15-year master plan for further expansion and improvement to runways, parking, baggage handling, domestic and international passenger processing, as well as passenger services, YYJ offers Queen Mary Bay residents remarkably hassle-free international travel only ten-minute from home.
Furthermore, inter-island ferry travel departing nearby Brentwood and Swartz Bay ferry terminals offers residents direct routes to mainland Vancouver, Mill Bay, and the Gulf Islands.
North Saanich itself boasts the largest concentration of marinas and boating facilities on Vancouver Island counting several located along Sidney’s eastern shoreline, including the renowned Port Sidney Marina. Other marina facilities of note are Canoe Cove Marina, just west of Swartz Bay, Van Isle Marina in Tsehum Harbour, and Deep Cove Marina in Deep Cove on Saanich Inlet.
With 1500 feet of ocean frontage, foreshore lease, deep water moorage, and private dock looking out onto incredible views of the surrounding Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, this is the ultimate home base for power and sail yachting enthusiasts, while the calm waters of the Saanich Inlet and its negligible tidal currents are ideal paddling areas for novices and experts alike. A public boat launch at the north end of Land’s End Road at Swartz Bay is the nearest place to launch canoe, boat, or kayak, and strike for any number of nearby islands, or skirt along the coast of the Saanich Peninsula. The boat ramp or wharf in Sidney are perfect launches for an adventure across the channel to Sidney Spit, Princess Margaret Island, the adjoining San Juan Islands, or along the Saanich Peninsula's spectacular coastline.
Sitting on the property are the modest caretakers cottage and the 3,587 square foot custom designed west coast main residence fitted with upper floor master bedroom with five-piece ensuite, two ground level bedrooms, and two additional bathrooms. Beautifully constructed, the home features extensive interior cedar trim and soffiting, vaulted, skylit ceilings, and of course, massive windows framing breathtaking coastal views.
The official community plan of the District of North Saanich has recognized that the Queen Mary Bay site’s natural vegetation, waterfront and beach areas, and natural watercourse are considered sensitive, important environmental assets, also noting that its topographic and physical constraints suggest density transfers to create detached housing clusters are desirable. With suggested density of 48 single-family up to 74 clustered units, and exclusion from the area’s agricultural land reserve, this site is an excellent choice for investors looking to capitalize on an innovative new sub-division development opportunity.
