Cahuita National Park Costa Rica
Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica. It has a trail running parallel to the beach in the forest so visitors can walk and see the abundant wildlife found in the park. It also has the longest coral reef in the country and visitors can take a tour to go snorkeling or hike the national park.

TRANSCRIPT
Good morning guys, today we're in Puerto Viejo exploring the beautiful Caribbean side of Costa Rica. I'm with Ernesto, the general manager of Caribe Fun Tours because today we're going to explore Cahuita National Park and go hiking through the area. So Ernesto can you just tell us a little bit about the tour that we're going to do today.
Yes, today you're going to go on a very exciting tour to the national park with our local guide Luis. You're going in probably about an hour and a half or so down to the main point of the park, you'll get some great shots of the beach from there, you'll get some great shots of some animals. Then after that you'll have a chance to have some local fruit, which will be prepared by your guide Luis. Then you'll head off to a waterfall and depending on the rain and water level, people can actually go swimming and refresh in there and also get some great photos of the waterfall.
OK so sounds like a fun day so let's go!
We’ve been walking for about thirty minutes, we’ve already seen a ton of wildlife, there’s actually a really nice path that goes along the beach through the national park so it’s really easy to walk
We’ve seen sloths, monkeys, iguanas so far, we should see quite a few more, it’s a really beautiful day, it’s really nice because it’s under the canopy so it’s nice and cool. This is a beautiful national park, definitely visit Cahuita when you’re in Puerto Viejo
We just finished the walk in Cahuita National Park, it was amazing and now we’re going to cool off at some of the waterfalls nearby
The tour ends here at the beautiful waterfall. We had a great time exploring Cahuita National Park we saw tons of cool wildlife. If you guys want to know more about this tour just click on the links below and thanks for watching

Exploring Cahuita COSTA RICA | NATURE PARK and FOOD | TRAVEL VLOG
Today we discover the cute village of Cahuita Costa Rica, a short 15km's from Puerto Viejo. We take a couple of days to get to know the town, on day one we cycle there to get a first impression of the town and day 2 we spend the day exploring the amazing Nature park!
The small village of Cahuita packs a big punch given its small size, it is the gateway to a stunning nature park that meets a stunning white sandy coastline. The town is authentic and has some amazing beach side bars or local soda's if you want to eat.
While exploring Cahuita's Nature Park we caught a glimpse of some of Costa Rica's most majestic animals, critters and fauna. You can even snorkel off shore near the park on what is Costa Rica's largest stretch of Coral reef providing you have a guide.
We absolutely loved Cahuita and can't wait to head back! Enjoy our latest Costa Rica Travel Vlog!

Cauhita National Park | FREE nature in Costa Rica + Animal Rescue Centre
Cauhita National Park is a rarity in Costa Rica, it's free! Well, donation based but it's one of the cheapest ways to see nature in Costa Rica. We saw more here than any other place we had been.
In this travel vlog of the Cauhita National Park we explore the trail in search of animals and also visit an animal rescue centre just outside nearby town of Puerto Viejo, called the 'Jaguar Rescue Centre' (There are way more animals than what the name suggests).
Cauhita National Park lies along the Caribbean Coast of Cost Rica and has easy to follow trails. You can loop all the way around from one side to the other in a day. It is adventurous, with the need to cross rivers and the ocean at times, and full of free nature. Sloth, raccoons, lizards, monkeys and more if you can get out to snorkel.
You can pay for a guide, and many people who came here from nearby town of Puerto Viejo paid for free nature! That is crazy to us. We stayed in Cauhita town, it's not the cheapest place but it's quiet and chilled compared to Puerto Viejo, which is known for partying. Here we were able to walk to the Cauhita National Park in minutes, see nature, hitch a ride back to town and take a bus to a stop near the animal rescue centre.
The animal rescue centre (Jaguar Rescue Centre) was the highlight of our whole trip in Costa Rica. Not for profit and only $20 for a guided tour of the site. It is NOT a zoo, they do incredible work and have very talented individuals, volunteers working for them. The passion they showed and work they explained to us was amazing. The care taken to look after animals not able to be re-integrated in the wild, and those that are being re-habilitated is something you can only really see and feel in person.
We talk about our time there as we wanted to respect the tour and the animals by not filming too directly, as should be encouraged if you visit Costa Rica in general, don't be too intrusive of nature. Enjoy free National Park, Cauhita...

National Parks of Costa Rica
National Parks of Costa Rica
by Gregory Basco & Robin Kazmier - Foreword by Rodrigo Gamez-Lobo
Music - Kalimba Call (from the album Morning on the River) by Kevin Gerzevitz
The unique geography and climate of Costa Rica provide the small country with extraordinary biodiversity—North American and South American species of flora and fauna can be found side by side there, taking advantage of the serendipitous conditions. The government of Costa Rica has shown a strong commitment to preserving their natural bounty. It has expressed this wildlife conservation ethic by establishing a robust network of national parks designed to protect pieces of every type of ecosystem and preserve watersheds. The country's twenty-six national parks and other protected areas comprise some 25 percent of its total landmass.
The national park system, practically from the beginning, has been characterized by its ambition and innovative approach. As a result, today Costa Rica is home to the largest remaining (and expanding) patch of tropical dry forest in the world, the largest intact mangrove forest in Central America, legendary cloud forests, and numerous sea turtle nesting sites of global importance—to name just a few of its environmental accomplishments.
This book features stunning photographs by Gregory Basco, a professional Costa Rica nature photographer. It provides an unparalleled glimpse into the treasures of Costa Rica's parks. With stunning images and informative text, National Parks of Costa Rica imparts an appreciation for the richness of nature and the importance of environmental conservation.
Gregory Basco is a BBC/Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year and also Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice prizewinner, for which he most recently won the Art in Nature category. He is the owner of Deep Green Photography and Foto Verde Tours.
Robin Kazmier lives in Costa Rica, where she has worked on a cocoa farm, led international education programs, and explored many of the country's protected areas. She now lives in San Jose and works as an editor of natural history books for Zona Tropical Press.
Rodrigo Gamez-Lobo is Director General and President of INBio Costa Rica.
