Fascinating cities and palaces built by the Goths, the Romans and not least the Arabs are witnesses to the remarkable past of this primeval region of Spain.
Riding through magnificent scenery, our route takes us via Antequera to Seville, the capital city of Andalusia. Then only one thing awaits us - Extremadura, one of the last natural wonders in Europe. Besides the fantastic roads winding their way through this impressive and extremely varied landscape, we visit towns steeped in history and experience amazing wildlife.

Places to see in ( Castile La Mancha - Spain ) Tablas de Daimiel National Park
Tablas de Daimiel National Park is a wetland on the La Mancha plain, a mainly arid area in the province of Ciudad Real. With an area of about 3,000 ha, the park is the smallest of Spain's fifteen national parks.
The protected area is in the process of being expanded outside the original nature reserve to include neighbouring dryland farming areas. The expansion is part of efforts to improve the condition of the wetland, which has been damaged by over-exploitation of water resources.
Like other Spanish wetlands, the Tablas de Daimiel had a long tradition of waterfowl hunting. As early as 1325 the infante Don Juan Manuel, in his hunting book (Libro de la caza), publicised the attributes of the banks of the river Gigüela for falconry. The water resources of the area also provided fishing and power for mills. In 1575, Philip II ordered the compilation of the Topographic Relations which commanded that the Tablas be well looked after. The value of the ecosystem for hunting continued to give the Tablas a certain amount of protection into the 20th century. Although in the 1950s the government promoted land reclamation projects in La Mancha with the aim of reducing the amount of wetland, Franco shot duck in the area and in 1966 the Tablas became a National Hunting Reserve.
In 1963 the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) launched a project to conserve and manage wetlands, the MAR Project, which drew up a list of wetlands of international importance as a foundation for an international convention on wetlands. The draft called for the protection of wetlands habitats rather than species. The Tablas de Damiel were declared a National Park in 1973. In 1980 the national park was extended and UNESCO included Las Tablas in a biosphere reserve. In 1982 Las Tablas were included on the list of the Ramsar Convention (an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable utilization of wetlands). In 1987 Las Tablas were declared a Special Protection Area for birds (Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves in Spanish) under the European Union's Birds Directive.

Waterfall Photography in Blyde River Canyon

Ah! I knew I'd f*ck that up eventually. I don't want to shoot all my footage in 4k because it just doesn't make sense to have huge files for videos that are going to be 1080p. So, for this episode, it was meant to be a 4k Friday, but I forgot to change the settings. Sorry that I messed that up. I knew I'd do it at some point.
This video that was supposed to be a 4k Friday was shot in the Blyde River Canyon area of South Africa. I found some really cool spots in the canyon like The Wonder View, Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls, and even a view point called God's Window.
I find this part of South Africa to be absolutely beautiful. I'm definitely glad I added Blyde River to my itinerary for the trip.

This Zepa or Zone of Special Protection for the Birds is between the A2 and the A3 of Madrid, in the northeast of the Community of Madrid. They are unirrigated cereal fields that occupy thousands of hectares and in a sparsely populated area, except for the few towns with urbanizations that dot the area. But there are large expanses with cereal fields only until you lose your sight. Several streams and the Torote River increase the biodiversity of this interesting area. The stars are the bustards, which still have a fairly stable population here. But because there is also a lot of rabbit, it is a zone of imperial and royal eagles and of the black vulture. Montagu's harrots and the increasingly scarce red partridge are part of this landscape of undulating crops and hills. The marsh harrier also nests. On the Torote River there are many species of birds linked to the riverside forests. And to top it off, although it may not seem like it, it's an area with an abundance of roe deer. In short, a beautiful agricultural stamp of how it should have been 50 years ago, and that also has a very rich and abundant fauna.

How far I was able to go!
Well, there wasn't limits, no boards, no even walls that couldn't stop me. I've been able to go farther than others, no matter what, no matter that I'm in a wheelchair. From USA to Spain, Portugal, Marroco, Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá and back home again.
Hiking the Sierra de las Nieves till the Torrecilla
Hike from Quejigales to the Puerto Pilones via the cañada del cuerno. Then a nice walk up to the summit of El Torrecilla (1919 m.a.s.l) from where we could see Gibraltar and even the Atlas in Africa. A very nice round trip across the Sierra de las Nieves Nat Park.

The Waorani Women of the Amazon, Ecuador
Developed in response to the uncontrolled poaching of wildlife in the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve (driven by local demand for bushmeat), Asociación de Mujeres Waorani del Ecuador is promoting organic cocoa cultivation as a wildlife protection measure and a pathway to local sustainable development. The association has created a land management plan that emphasizes zero deforestation, organic cocoa certification as a primary economic driver, and the management of subsistence hunting activities to protect threatened and vulnerable wildlife species. Community cocoa is processed into organic-certified chocolate, creating local access to new markets and more lucrative revenue streams. The association has been so successful at reorienting the local economy that the bushmeat market has been closed down. Women lead both organic farming and business management activities. Organic cocoa cultivation is complemented by activities in fish farming, fruit tree cultivation, and the operation of tree nurseries, which support both food security and reforestation needs. Revenues from the cocoa business have been invested into local education, health and infrastructure projects.

ECUADOR // February 2013
In February we visited a friend of us, who is a volunteer in Ecuador for one year. She lives and works in Cuenca, probably one of the most beautiful places to be in Ecuador.
We started our journey in Quito, went to Tena (where we took a kayak into the rainforest) and continued to Baños. After that we spent a few days at the coast, before we finally arrived in Cuenca.
This video is my first try with Adobe After Effects - As you can see I tried to make the video look like an old 8mm-film. Comments and constructive criticism are highly appreciated.
