Croatia - Our beautiful homeland
A rich culture and the breathtaking landscapes of the Croatian Mediterranean. This has made Croatia one of the most popular holiday regions of Europe, already at times of the United Yugoslavia. In two episodes Hans Jöchler and his team travel the land of the countless islands and historically meaningful places on the mainland. The film shows impressive landscapes on the mainland and the islands. However it delivers an informative insight into the busy history of a multiethnic nation, which became a full member of the European Union in 2014.
This first of two episodes presents well known destinations like Rovinji. Here many traces of the Venetians are to be found which once were rulers of the country. Furthermore the city of Pula and some of the 1242 islands of Croatia stand on the itinerary, such as Cres or Pag. One of the highlights is the visit of the oldest national park of Europe, Paklenica with its impressive gorges and black pine wood. A visit of the former capitol city of Dalmatia, Zadar stands before the boat trip to the Kornati.
On Dugi Otok the team puts the heads and the camera under water briefly, to be astonished about the variety of ocean coral species and molluscs at the up to 90 meters deep steep slopes. Finally the team heads on for Riva, one of the most popular tourist destinations of Croatia. This film gives the audience an impression of a country which suffers often from just being seen as a destination for mass tourism. But hardly many people know about its high cultural status proved for example by old sacred buildings or the Artworks and crafts.

Plitvice Lakes National Park | Croatia
A fun day trip up to Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia. We visited Split, Croatia, for a week in September and decided to take a day trip excursion up to the waterfall-laden national park. Well worth the trip if visiting Croatia!
Filmed during September of 2018.
Enjoy!

Beauty of Croatia | Krka
If Plitvice Lakes is a place of majesty then Krka, its equally lush neighbor, impresses upon a more playful spirit. Hike through Mediterranean foliage as the surge of turbulent water grows louder by the minute. After a short while, keepers of the path will be rewarded in a way that Plitvice doesn’t allow. The increasing tempo of rushing water suddenly bursts through the emerald green and presents Skradinski Buk.

21. Sailing with strong winds and new crew | Sail Croatia | Sailing from Brac to Dubrovnik
This time on Kawai we welcome and introduce Jase's parents to sailing with some not so good weather and they love it! Our first sail from Supetar, Brac to Milna, Brac we have 20 knot winds, 8 degrees and storms around.
From Milna we sail on to Uvala Smrka, Brac where we anchor with an unusual and interesting view of a submarine bunker from World War II. We enjoy a walk with some wildlife and settle in to catch up with a few drinks and a great view of Kawai and the bunker.
The next day we sail a short distance to Uvala Blaca to hike up to Blaca Monastery and enjoy learning about the history and how it was run. We made it back to Kawai just in time for the winds to pick up and we sail further along the southern side of Brac towards Zlatni Rat. Unfortunately the winds and waves continue to increase so we do a quick sail by Zlatni Rat and move on towards Jelsa and Vrboska on Hvar. Jase's parents get to experience great sailing in over 26 knots and thankfully they love the experience.
The next day we run to Vrboska for a quick look before moving on to Hvar town and Pakleni Islands. More crazy weather arrives and we take shelter in the Pakleni Islands on a mooring ball where we witness a bit of chaos - dragged mooring ball, tangled anchors and some wild sailing.
We continue checking out many Croatian towns including Korcula and Slano where we find a picturesque and sheltered anchorage close to Dubrovnik.
Our time in Croatia comes to an end for now as we check out of Dubrovnik and head towards Montenegro.
About us:
Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai.
We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the next year we hope to sail to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Gibraltar, Canary Islands and then across the Atlantic Ocean.
Jase loves making travel videos and we decided to upload to youtube to share our adventure. We really hope you enjoy and feel free to drop us a comment any time to chat or subscribe to follow along :)

The Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s most popular tourist attraction, was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Located roughly halfway between capital city Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the lakes are a definite must-see in Croatia. (As confirmed by the many emails we’ve received!)
The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometers, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometers.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is a national park in Croatia, located halfway between the cities of Zagreb and Zadar within a karstic plateau. It is at the same time the oldest of the national parks of southern Europe and the most extensive in Croatia. It was created on April 8, 1949 and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. Within the confines of this highly wooded national park, 16 crystalline lakes are cascading and cascading. The mineral-rich waters dig the rock and deposit the tuff in constantly changing formations. Clouds of butterflies drift over 18 km of wooden footbridges and paths winding along the edges and through the rumbling waters.

Vlog 51.| Sounds of Nature. Hiking Plitvice Lakes, Croatia #relaxvlog
Hiking in Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia. 16 tiered and terraced lakes, walks along boardwalks, through deserted villages. We reached a new hiking goal - 10 hours, 21-22 miles of walking, 45,000 steps. We stayed at a beautiful modern country guesthouse. Surrounded by fields of green, pink and purple flowers and incredible scenery. Just happy to be in a place where all we heard was the sound of nature. I'm slowly catching up on creating videos from footage I have from July...more to come! #calm #relaxingvlog #plitvicelakes

Beauty of Croatia | Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice Lakes is a union of stunning natural beauty divided by man made paths of rustic simplicity. Hiking trails wind through intense forests of lush greenery as fish frolic in water so transparent it gives a clear view into the kind of brilliance Mother Nature can achieve when left to her own devices.
