BOTSWANA TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | 4x4 Safari Road Trip feat. Victoria Falls
Part One - NAMIBIA:
My Gear:
Follow us on our road trip safari through southern Africa's wildlife paradise Botswana. We drove through most of Botswana, including all the wildlife-rich areas like the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Nationalpark including the Chobe Riverfront and the Kalahari. We explored the Makgadikgadi salt pans in the center of the country, the Gcwihaba Caverns in the West and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the south. We also shortly ventured into Simbabwe to marvel upon the majestic Victoria Falls. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Botswana home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval cats, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

Botswana Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Botswana.
Botswana is the largest natural paradise in southern Africa. Limited tourism, a combination of untouched wilderness and the comfort and luxury of a handful of safari camps, makes this Africa’s model country. Our journey begins in nearby Zimbabwe that is located close to Botswana’s northern frontier at Victoria Falls that is undoubtedly one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world. Eighty kilometres west and we have crossed the Botswana border and arrive in the first large city in the north of the country, Kasane, that is located on the Chobe River and marks the country’s frontier with Namibia. In addition to growing tourism the fishing industry is also important to Kasane’s economy. The river contains an abundance of fish and so the local fishermen are provided with a good income to support their families. Since 1915 Ma-Un has been Botswana’s main city and until the beginning of the 1990s was only accessible via dusty gravel roads, a border town on the edge of a vast wilderness. The state run Moremi National Park that extends for around a hundred thousand hectares is the largest nature reserve in the Okavango Delta. It is located on Chief’s Island, the largest island in the region. In recent years further private wildlife reserves have been established that are well worth a visit and are also strictly controlled and protected natural habitats. Amid the African wilderness we arrive at a luxurious lodge that is not only the ideal starting point for many safaris but also provides a good degree of relaxation after an exhausting day out. Suddenly two members of the San Tribe approach the lodge. These ‘Bushmen’ will accompany us on our journey into the Kalahari Desert that is also their home. Elephant herds on the Chobe River, the vast wilderness of the Kalahari and the mystique of the Okavango Delta help to make Botswana one of the last great paradises on Earth!

Luxury Lodges of Africa. Six Fantastic Safari Lodges - Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. 4k UHD
There are lots of amazing lodges in Southern Africa but here are just some of my favorites. Not so much because of the accommodation the offer but more because of their great location and quality of wildlife viewing.

Ihaha, Chobe National Park. Camping in Botswana. Travel guide.
It is possible to observe game from your campsite as they move daily from the forest to the Chobe River to quench their thirst.
Self Drive Do it Yourself Botswana:
Large numbers of breeding elephant herds make a spectacular view.
Warthog has made the campsite its home. Uninterested in human presence, they will carry on with their daily activities - gathering food, nursing their young, and playing around. Never approach them. They still remain wild and could be very dangerous.
Lion frequently visit the campsite. They won't harm you if you stay at your campsite and not wander around after dark. Always keep your tent zipped up and never sleep outside.
Due to the large concentration of game, the Chobe River Area is a paradise for predators. The Chobe lion is a good example thereof.

Chobe River Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about nature park Chobe River in Botswana.
The Chobe region in the far north east of Botswana is well known for its fascinating nature. Its national park was named after the Chobe River one of the most important tributaries of the Zambesi that leads into the nearby world famous, Victoria Falls. The Chobe River acts as a central gateway to numerous villages as well as to the national park’s various safari lodges. Unlike many other countries in Africa, tourism in Botswana attracts a particularly exclusive and well-off clientele. The advantages of this are soon apparent. As the number of tourists here is relatively small there is a far greater sense of freedom than in other parts of Africa. On the perimeter of Kasane, the largest city in this region, there are several luxurious lodges that are located along the banks of the river. Each of the safari lodges provides its own boat trips on the Chobe River and these can also be arranged to suit individual preferences. The river is ideal for the observation of wildlife and even by African standards the diversity of wildlife here is exceptional. One of the most spectacular attractions are huge herds of elephants as more than half the entire elephant population of Botswana lives in and around the Chobe National Park. Although their numbers fluctuate, around thirty five thousand to fifty thousand elephants live here making this the largest elephant enclosure in the world! Until relatively recently many White Tailed Eagles and Screaming Eagles were to be found along the Chobe River. However, they have now become quite scarce as many of them have been hunted. It is fortunate that some have made these areas of Botswana into their permanent habitat. The Chobe River is not only an exceptional body of water that flows through one of the most biodiverse regions in Africa, it is also a unique world full of natural wonder and captivating charm.

Botswana beckoned and we answered the call to this land of lushness and desert. Even the Kalahari is thick with swaying grasses in March 2019, the parched plains turned pale yellow and green until the rains come.
Botswana: Okavango Explorer Safari - Wilderness Travel
Botswana’s diverse ecosystems are astounding, from magnificent Chobe National Park, sheltering the world’s largest elephant herds, to the wildlife paradise of the Okavango Delta, an exquisite wetland surrounded by the great Kalahari thirstlands. Our Botswana: Okavango Explorer is designed with extra time in the Okavango, exploring the papyrus-lined waterways of its farthest reaches during the best season for wildlife in the delta. On this special safari, we overnight at a special lightweight camp for a true experience of the bush, and also have terrific gameviewing on the teeming grasslands of Chobe. We track game by 4WD vehicle, riverboat, and—a Botswana specialty—mokoro (dugout canoe), all in a breathtaking mix of Botswana’s most beautiful environments. No one else gets you this close to the action—and in such comfort!

Before You Go See This Video. Comprehensive Travel Guide. Now free to view on YouTube. Our route starts at the border with South Africa and takes us to the northern part of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (Deception Valley), from where we travel on to Maun – the Gateway to the Okavango Delta. We then headed north to Moremi, on to Savute, Linyanti and Ihaha in the beautiful Chobe National Park. We end our adventure in the town of Kasane in the North Eastern side of Botswana close to the magnificent Victoria Water Falls. Topics featured are National Parks, relevant towns, hotels and lodges, camping sites, road conditions and useful tips regarding your adventure. Since Africa has opened up for Tourist, many 4X4 owners and nature lovers are planning to visit various destinations offered by countries north of the Limpopo. The most popular destination is Botswana, without a doubt one of Africa’s last real bastions of game. A land of contrasts – from the harsh beauty of Central Kalahari to the lush woodlands of the Okavango Delta. Adventure Films recognized the need of many 4X4 owners for more information regarding this beautiful country. The adventurers who want to arrange their own 4X4 safari to Botswana are sometimes skeptical of going, due to the lack of information available regarding facilities, accommodation, road conditions and many more. For this reason, the video “The Botswana Adventure” was produced. The video is not a wildlife film. The purpose of this production is to inform potential visitors to Botswana about relative aspects that could assist them in planning their 4X4 adventure.
