Visit Austria (Tirol) - Tyrol Travel Guide to Alpbachtal Video Transcript:
Today we’re showing you around one of the most picturesque corners in all of Austria: the Alpbachtal Valley located in Tyrol. This was our first time visiting Austria and I don’t think we could have chosen a better place to start. While we only had 3 days in this region, we managed to pack lots of time in the mountains, sample the local cuisine and befriend more than one cow along the way. The following is our mini-travel guide to Alpbachtal:
After getting settled into our farmhouse it was time for lunch and boy were we hungry. We drove to Brandenberg where we ate at Kaiserhaus, a restaurant and guesthouse tucked out in nature.
Tyrolean Food at Kaiserhaus Gasthof - Seeing as this was our first day in Tyrol, we wanted to sample some Tyrolean food including gamey meats and noodle dishes.
Hiking the Kaiserklamm - This was a really nice walk that followed the course of the river and took us over a series of bridges and tunnels. We sure enjoyed the scenery.
After that we returned back to our town of Reith im Alpbachtal, where we had some more hearty Tyrolean food and listened to a bit of live music.
On day 2, we lucked out with clear blue skies, so after having breakfast in our farmhouse, we drove to the town of Alpbach. Here we got quick e-biking lesson, and set off to tackle the Alps in style.
It wasn’t long before we left the town behind and found ourselves in the middle of nature. We rode up valleys, over streams, through forests, and tackled some pretty steep inclines along the way, but as you can see, the scenery was stunning.
We drove to the nearby village of Kramsach, where we stopped off for - you guessed it - more food! We were famished after all that biking, and we didn’t hold back. We plopped ourselves down at Rohrerhof, where we proceeded to order cappuccinos, massive dessert platters and schnapps. The next attraction: the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum,
Gondola ride to Wiedersbergerhorn - After a leisurely walk and enjoying the impressive views, something else caught our attention - a mountaintop restaurant with an outdoor terrace!
Almatrieb Cows Come Home Parade - By noon, the festivities were in full swing. But it wasn’t all about cows. There were also craft demonstrations, food stalls, and lots of bands playing for jovial crowds who created their own dance floors.
That sums up our trip to the Alpbachtal Valley in Tyrol - cows, mountains and a whole bunch of delicious food. See you next time in Vienna (Wien).
This is part of our Travel in Austria video series showcasing Austrian food, Austrian culture and Austrian cuisine.

Walking from Austria to Italy (in 1 day) Tirol Tyrol Nature Hikes Trails
Two completely inexperienced and out of shape (ok, one of us falls in that category) nomads decide to take on the Austrian Alps (or, so we call them to make ourselves feel better). Check out our day-long trek from the southern-most valley (in this part of Austria anyway) to the northermost valley in Italy. We're clearly amateur hikers (we don't have the shoes, the gear, or even a clue about what we're doing) but, we had fun nevertheless. Check back every week for new videos we shoot all over the world: we're lifetime travellers (it's all we do: we're both homeless- hopping from country to country for 14 years now collectively). We're eachother's home, and our laptops are our means to sustenance.

About Us:
I'm PJ. My partner, inspiration, trainer, chef, and moral compass, Risa, are what we (reluctantly) refer to as, digital nomads. I say, reluctantly, as I've been living the digital nomad lifestyle for about 15 years now (long before the term was coined, and became the cheesy trend it is today. It seems that everyone these days on vacation with a laptop, a pina colada next to them, Avicii on their headphones, and a dozen memory sticks filled with selfies now considers themselves a (don't forget the hashtag) digital nomad.
I started out at age 19. I quit my job at the time, to focus on the then still relatively unknown arbitrage business model as applied on eBay. Long story short, I saw an opportunity, invested all I had in it (time + money) and by my early 20s, I no longer had any interest in returning to Canada (where I grew up). I bounced mostly around Asia, for many years (all the usual nomad hotspots: Thailand, Vietnam, S. Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, with a preference for Japan (lived all over Japan, from Tokyo, to the most remote Japanese islands in the Pacific).
In late 2013, one of my returns to Tokyo, I met a captivating young woman, Risa, who helped me to re-calibrate my high-flyin', rock-star lifestyle and regain focus. Within a few months of meeting, she elected to quit her job in Tokyo and joined me on this nomadic journey. This channel, will document our perpetual traveller lifestyle. It's not always easy, it's not always fun. There are highs and lows. Sometimes money is very tight, other times it seems like it's the least of our worries. But when done right, the digital nomad lifestyle is a journey unlike any other.
Over the last few years, we generally stay off the beaten path and instead venture into areas seldom spoken about in digital nomad circles. You won't see us visiting Bali, Saigon, or Bangkok. Been there, got the SIM card, and still feel a bit hungover.
As we travel, we focus on personal growth, on disconnecting, unlearning, and thus thriving. We attempt to engage in philanthropy when we can. We respect the cultures kind enough to allow us to visit their land and their homes.
Feel free to send us feedback, comments, suggestions. Thank you for taking an interest in our journey. More videos of exotic places, stories, and people, will be uploaded weekly. As a demonstration of my gratitude to you for taking an interest in us, I will continue improving the quality of the content I create for you on a regular basis.

The natural beauty of the Hohe Tauern National Park at Austria - National Geographic Documentary
Along 100 kilometres (62 mi) of the main chain stretches the High Tauern National Park (Nationalpark Hohe Tauern), to which the Austrian Alpine Club as freeholder and the three states of Carinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol have contributed territory. With an area of about 1,834 square kilometres (708 sq mi), it is by far the largest of Austria's seven national parks as well as the largest nature reserve in the Alps. It is divided into a core zone including the Grossglockner and Grossvenediger massifs, with complete prohibition of agricultural use, and a fringe zone used for forestry and alpine-meadow farming. Five special nature sanctuaries are protected from any human disturbance.

Schloss Schörnborn is more than just a golf club. Playing at Schörnborn is an encounter with Austrian history every step of the way.
The magnificently restored castle that is available to the club today was built between 1712 and 1717 by Lukas von Hildebrandt as the summer residence for the then Imperial Vice Chancellor, Friedrich Karl von Schönborn.
Experiencing sport and nature come together on the 104 hectare castle grounds - the site of the golf course opened in 1989. In contrast to many other golf courses, the landscape was not artificially modelled but perfectly utilized as an existing framework.
The stylish atmosphere of both the castle and grounds also makes its mark on the club. The woods with their old trees always come into play on the 18-hole course in the castle grounds, and are always a challenge for the golfer. In particular the large oak tree that stands exactly in the centre of the 18th fairway, is already a prominent landmark for the tee-off hole on the red course.

Wunderful day in the nature
Trailer Making an Ancient Forest - Kalkalpen National Park
What if we could turn back the clock and restore Nature to her virgin state? – before man „filled the earth and subdued it“…Kalkalpen National Park was commercial timberland since the Early Middle Ages. Forestry has changed since then, but never as radically as it is changing now. This is probably the hardest decision any forest manager can take: to stop managing – and abandon the work of a hundred generations. However, in these steep limestone mountains in the heart of Austria exactly this decision has been taken.
The intention, though, was not to destroy – but to recreate. The forest managers stepped down and let Nature’s own management team take over. This opens the door for new life: as the variety of trees and herbs grows and expands the forests again attract wild animals which once have left the commercial woods. So we are able to witness the unfolding of a canopy of life which hosts lynx, pygmy owl, white backed woodpeckers, a big number of fascinating insects and the weird Giant Ichneumon.
The latest production of Rita and Michael Schlamberger „Making an Ancient Forest – Kalkalpen National Park“ – produced in 4K – is a coproduction of ScienceVision and Kalkalpen National Park.
