Indonesia – Blue Planet Odyssey in Kumai
After Lombok, the BPO participants sailed to Kumai on Kalimantan to see the orangutans’ conservation area. At first it looked like a visit would not be possible due to the uncontrolled mass forest dfires on Borneo but luckily rain did stop the fire in the area (after months of damagesL. All participants did go on a river boat cruise to the different stations. Harry Rustaman is the man to see to get the best boat crew to take you to day or overnight tours: 4 to 6 for overnight/ 8-10 for day tours. The guides were excellent and the crew was great, especially the cook who had fresh and varied local meals prepared so many times a day! Orangutans and other types of monkeys were well worth the visit but so was the boat river trip itself! Filmed in November 2015!
Travel Guide: Indonesia's Top Natural Attractions
Sumatra: Indonesia's Best Nature and Wildlife
Sumatra is an island in western Indonesia, westernmost of the Sunda Islands. It is the sixth largest island in the world with a population of more than 50 million. Its biggest city is Medan with a population of 2 million.
Settler colonies were arriving in Sumatra in 500 BC and several significant kingdoms flourished there. Marco Polo visited the island in 1292. The powerful Aceh Sultanate ruled from this time into the 20th century. Sumatra came under the control of the Dutch East Indies and became a major producer of pepper, rubber, and oil. In the early and mid-twentieth century, Sumatran academics and leaders were important figures in Indonesia's independence movements before full independence was gained in 1945.
On 26 December 2004, the western coast and islands of Sumatra, particularly Aceh province, were struck by a tsunami following Indian Ocean earthquake. More than 170,000 Indonesians were killed, primarily in Aceh. Other recent major earthquakes struck Sumatra in 2005 and 2010.
Sumatra supports a wide range of vegetation types which are home to a rich variety of species, including 17 endemic genera of plants. The island is home to 201 mammal species and 580 bird species. The island has lost half of its natural forest cover since 1985, and many of the remaining species are endangered. The Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Rhino, and Sumatran Orangutan are all Critically Endangered, indicating that the highest level of threat to their survival.
Sumatra is not very densely populated, about 96 people per km2—more than 45 million people in total. The people represent many different ethnic groups, speaking 52 different languages. Most of these groups, however, share many similar traditions and the different tongues are closely related.

Beautiful Land, Wonderful Indonesia, Friendly Lombok.
Beautiful Land, Wonderful Indonesia, Friendly Lombok.
This video is about Beautiful Land and Friendly lombok.
Lombok is an island east of Bali, but less famous. While every year millions of tourists are attracted to Bali, many places on Lombok are still untouched...
Lombok offers many empty and often isolated dream beaches, friendly and interesting people, tasty food and fantastic nature.
You can also discover the colorful underwater by snorkeling on a day trip from Lombok. With a little bit of luck, you can even spot turtles...
A land gifted with pristine beaches, exotic water villas on serene islands, quasi-active volcanoes, vibrant tribes and their cultural ethos. No! We are not talking about a fascinating dream but about the fairytale like Indonesian landscapes.
There are many surreal places in Indonesia, and together they offer a mix of outlandish island wonders and spine-chilling wildlife adventures. Here’s a list of the most beautiful places in Indonesia, covering islands, beaches and lakes for the water babies; national parks for wildlife lovers; active volcano sites for adventurous souls; and places for city explorers.
Jungle Trekking in Ketambe - Hidden corners of Sumatra Rainforest
Ketambe is a small, quiet and remote city in the most south of Aceh. It is worth a visit to both go trekking and to just relax for a day or two, since not many tourists take the long but beautiful way to Ketambe.
Rangers all over the city arrange 1-3 days trekking, possibly longer, to the Gunung Leuser National Park. In order to get the best experience with great Orang Utan sightings and to support local economy take a local guide, go to Ketambe and you will for sure find a good guide there.
There are plenty of good and reliable guides around so take your time to get to know some of them, have a chat, make your choice and prepare for a great adventure. Ask questions and ask them if they follow the rules and do not feed orangutans or any other wildlife.
Even though sightings of the orangutan and other wildlife can never be guaranteed, when following the instructions of your guide the chances are favorable.
In rainforest you can see the manifold wildlife, real wild Orang Utans, black and white handed Gibbons, Longtail Makaks and other types of monkeys, Hornbills, Snakes, Lantern bugs etc. It is not not recommended to go unaccompanied into the jungle.

VLOG | DISCOVERING WEST SUMATRA INDONESIA
I Travelled to West Sumatra for a week, and It had been completely an adventure. Indonesia is a place with beautiful landscapes and wonderful people.
My first impression was an exquisite taste in the mouth. Indonesian people are always smiling you, greeting you and some of them even get close to you to start a conversation to know who you are, where you come from and take the photo or selfie to keep the memories.
In the other hand, nature expressions are just amazing. Sunsets in West Sumatra are always a pleasure for the eyes, and to look at the night sky from one of its amazing islands is like a trip through the space that makes you feel how small and fleeting you are.
I really hope to come back to Indonesia to know more. In a while, I can say that West Sumatra has something special, something that makes you feel that you have not had enough from there.
I am really thankful to the people that I knew on the way that certainly made me feel over welcomed.

Indonesia - A tour on the island of Flores and the Komodo National Park
The Indonesian island of Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands and is 360 kilometers long and varies in width from twelve to seventy kilometers. It is an island of volcanoes, beautiful mountain lakes, grassy savannahs and even some mountain forest. The landscape has a devastating beauty. Nevertheless, Flores is one of the least visited islands of Indonesia. We make a tour on the Island and visit several hotspots like the vulcano crater lakes in the Kelimutu Nationaal park, are welcomed in the traditionall village of Tutubadha , have a boat trip in the ’17 Islands Marine Park’ and visit several traditional village like Luba and Bena.
We also visit Ringa part of Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Komodo dragon can be found in the wild, As a result of their size, these lizards dominate the ecosystems in which they live.[8] Komodo dragons hunt and ambush prey including invertebrates, birds, and mammals. It has been claimed that they have a venomous bite; there are two glands in the lower jaw which secrete several toxic proteins. Komodo dragons also occasionally attack humans.
