Deep in the forests of Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, an ancient stone city soars skyward. This is the sprawling complex of Angkor Archaeological Park. The site is located in the northwestern region of the country and is only four miles from the city of Siem Reap. The Khmer Empire’s various capitals thrived here from the 9th to 15th centuries, over an empire that stretched from Myanmar to Vietnam. Including forested areas and newly discovered “suburbs” Angkor covers more than 400 square miles—an area considerably larger than New York City’s five boroughs.
The massive Angkor Wat is the most famed of all Cambodia’s temples—it even appears on the nation’s flag. The 12th century “temple-mountain” was built as a spiritual home for the Hindu god Vishnu.
The temples of Angkor are architectural masterpieces laden with artistic treasures like the bas-relief galleries that tell enduring tales of Cambodian history and legend.
Angkor is as much about water as it is about stone—the site boasts an enormous system of artificial canals, dikes, and reservoirs. The West Baray reservoir is the largest of which at 5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. These massive works skillfully harnessed river and rainwater to quench the thirst of some 750,000 residents in the world’s largest preindustrial city. That water also irrigated wealth-producing crops like rice, which served the Khmer as currency.
It’s still a mystery to scientists why the city’s rulers abandoned the site and resettled near the modern capital of Phenom Penh. Some scholars speculate that the downfall of this elaborate water system led to the end of Angkor.
The town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor and is filled with lodging, dining, and tour-package options for all budgets. Those preferring to travel by boat can also make the trip from Phnom Penh in some five or six hours—about the same travel time as by road. The airport in Siem Reap has service to Phnom Penh and regular flights abroad to Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Laos. The airport in Siem Reap has service to the capital and regular flights to nearby countries.
Peak tourist season in Angkor is December and January, when rainfall is less likely and the climate is most kind. No matter the time of year, a visit to Angkor is sure to leave you awestruck.

Travel from Stung Treng to Preah Vihear and Siem Reap Province | Trip on Vacation in Cambodia
We Just got up from Angkor Meas Hotel at Krong Stung Treng, rushing to breakfast at Samki market in Stung Treng Town. They served the foods around and outside of Samki market. We had grilled pork rice and noodle soup for breakfast and rushing traveling on Mekong bridge heading to Preah Vihear Province. Before we got to Preah Vihear, we visit a local pagoda to pay our respect on the 2nd day of Pchum Ben Festival. Then we hit the road again traveling to Preah Vihear Province. We didn't stop at Krong Preah vihear as we wanted to sleep at Krong Siem Reap. We stop at Peoung Preah Ko pagoda in Preah Vihear province to relax and had some snacks, the baby duck eggs. After this we continue our trip on National Road 64 to Krong Siem Reap in Siem Reap province. We had dinner along National Road 6 near the entrance to Bakong temple. We stayed at The Villa Socret Garden with a nice swimming pool. Kids really enjoyed this swimming pool at night before going to bed.

KILLING FIELDS OF CAMBODIA TRIP - Eye Opening Phnom Penh City Tour
Join us as we travel through the killing fields of Cambodia in phnom penh. South east Asia is an incredible place and Cambodia has a very dark history of genocide. This was a hard day to tour and learn about polpot and the khmer rouge regime.
After, we saw the independence monument, pub street, corner bar, and more.
Cambodia hotels have a lot of pros and cons, so be sure you're researching wisely to stay in nice properties with good locations... we stayed near a lot of bars and prostitution!
Be sure to check back on our vlogs about siem reap and angkor wat, which were some of the highlights from our cambodia trip 2018. There are many things to do in Cambodia, including a phnom penh city tour, so don't miss out!

Wild Haven of Cambodia
Birdwatchers from across Asia and beyond flock to Cambodia's forests for a glimpse of two of the world's rarest birds: the giant ibis and its cousin the white-shouldered ibis. Each year, the birders follow the birds to their nesting grounds at the outskirts of Tmatboey, a rural Cambodian village some 200 miles north of Phnom Penh. Under the protection of the Tmatboey villagers, the ibises breed, nest, and raise their chicks. In return for their contribution to the birds' conservation, WCS worked with the community to develop an eco-tourism project. This partnership has helped bring the village a new perspective on their sacred forest.

Siem Reap, Cambodia: A walking tour of Angkor Wat
Siem Reap is home to Angkor Wat - one of the oldest Hindu Temples in the world. I'd heard so much about this place, and in November 2017, decided to pay this city a visit.
My hotel provided me with a vehicle that drove me there before the crack of dawn. I expected to take in a nice quiet sunrise. I was greeted by over 1,500 highly eager tourists, just like myself, who had made the trip here to catch the temple in the first rays of the morning.
Angkor Wat is a must-visit location for every intrepid traveller.
However, there are lots of other temples close by that offer other very similarly unique experiences. It makes just one of the reasons to visit Siem Reap in Cambodia.
