Tourist attractions in Dominica Island
Dominica is an island republic. The capital, Roseau, is located on the leeward side of the island. Dominica has been nicknamed the Nature Isle of the Caribbean for its natural environment.
It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, and in fact it is still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake.
The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and it is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species.

Discover The Nature Island of Dominica : Travel Vlog
Dominica defies the Caribbean cliché on many levels. No mass tourism, no white powdery beaches, no rum-fueled pool parties. Nicknamed ‘nature island’ for a reason, the island lures largely individualists and ecoadventurers with its Boiling Lake, Champagne Reef, rainforest-shrouded volcano, sulfurous hot springs, superb diving and the Caribbean's first long-distance hiking trail.
Mother Nature may have been especially generous with Dominica, but it also deals it the occasional hardship in the form of hurricanes and tropical storms. Most recently, in August 2015, Tropical Storm Erika wreaked major havoc from which the island is still recovering.

Beautiful DOMINICA, Nature Island | Banana Lama Travel Vlog
Deep in the glorious rainforests of Dominica is a hidden oasis known as Banana Lama eco-villas. I had the privilege of staying there for 2 nights. In the last vlog, we trekked off-the-beaten path and zip-lined across 2 rivers in order to reach Banana Lama, Dominica. Now we had a full day to explore and enjoy this paradise in the jungle.
Banana Lama, Dominica provided us with an amazing experience. There's no better way to see the nature island than submersed in nature itself so I can't recommend it enough.
I hope you enjoy this short documentary of my time exploring the forest and gardens of Banana Lama eco-villas in Dominica.
Banana Lama:
BEHIND THE SCENES - MAKING THE VLOG
This vlog has been the most challenging travel vlog to put together so far! I can't believe I had over 3 hour's worth of footage to go through and mercilessly cut down. I hate discarding footage or cutting it too short! Around 16 hours of editing later, here is the video. I still notice a couple of errors with it but it's better to post a video than never post it as it's never 'perfect'.
I was also annoyed as 2 filming issues occurred whilst making this vlog. First of all, I put too strong an ND filter on my drone whilst moronically using automatic settings which made for very grainy drone shots which were a nightmare to colour-grade. Secondly, somehow whilst filming at the river, 'rock steady' mode was switched off my Osmo and I had no idea so all Osmo footage is unbearably shaky. I really appreciate what a fantastic job my GH5 does of stabilisation now that I can see what regular footage looks like.

THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN DOMINICA
Dominica is fast becoming my favourite country in the Caribbean. Unlike a lot of other islands around with beautiful pristine beaches and packed holiday resorts, Dominica is a million miles away from that.
It’s this wild, rugged island that looks straight out of Jurassic Park. Honestly, everywhere you look is just so lush and green. I guess that’s why it’s known as “the nature island of the Caribbean”.
Well, if you’re wondering what to do in Dominica then you’ve come to the right place. Check out my video to see the best things to do in Dominica!

#2-Caribbean romance and adventure vacations. Dominica nature island - naturally different
Dominica is Colour, the sea with many shades of monochrome blues and gray create a painters landscape that is totally unique. The landscape is pink, red, yellow, blue and white on a carpet of green and brown. The town is painted in bright greens, reds and blues; Strong colors that insist you notice, but they are never gaudy, and sit in perfect balance. Even the wildly coloured fishing boats are in harmony siting on their canvass of gray and silver sand , the green-blue, gray-white sea and sky. There is something extraordinary about the way the colours blend. The boasts on the beaches and anchored in the shallow waters, are painted with personality, each individual, yet complementary. They say much about the style of the place and its people. The entire Island seems at times to be symphony of colour in perfect harmony.
There are many places with bright and vibrant colors, but often they fight and clash each other. But it is not so in Dominica. Do they all use the same artist I wondered. Have they been to the same school of art, is art and painting taught like this in all schools. Perhaps there is just one artist doing all this work. Then who is his or her teacher. I decided to accept that mother nature is the teacher and the divine artist here. In the nature Island everyone is an artist working with the same pallet, fitting in rather than standing out.
Fitting in rather than standing out. It is a phrase that suites the Dominica temperament. Although they are independent and different, the sense of a community is not left behind.
It was what I noticed at the Carib village and from articles written about Dominica and its people. They may not have always been this way, but perhaps centuries of battles have made them weary of strife and they have always had a great respect for nature. They are people of nature and nature just IS as people sometimes just ARE; content with being close to the earth and one with all. Being is a possess of observing, going with the flow, accepting and fitting in rather than standing out. Dominicas fit in, with styles.
Untouched Caribbean Island. Can't Believe This Exists ???? Explore Dominica in the Caribbean ????????
In this video we spend a few days exploring the untouched and not overly well known Caribbean island of Dominica! Dominica is known as the nature island, with lots of waterfalls and rivers (365, one for every day of the year!).
We start things off with a quick tour of our hotel, where we are staying in the penthouse. This hotel is an adventure hotel and a great place to stay if you’re looking to plan lots of fun adventures around the island during your stay. You can find more about it here:
After setting off from the hotel to explore the island, and getting over a bit of motion sickness (the roads are very windy and even those that aren’t use to motion sickness can be affected, some prepared), we stop at the Emerald Pool. It’s about a 10 minute easy hike to get there and once you arrive you’ll encounter a lovely waterfall where you can also swim. This is definitely the place where we encountered more tourists than anywhere else!
Next up we had the most beautiful canoe ride through Indian River (a scene from Pirate’s of the Caribbean was filmed here), where we encountered loads of different types of birds, crabs and wildlife. Unfortunately it got dark very quickly and we had to stop filming.
We picked things up the next day at Morne Bruce where we had a great view overlooking the main city in Dominica, Roseau. We also make a stop at the botanical gardens to see a bus that was flattened by a tree many years ago in a hurricane and is now referred to as David and Goliath. We then spend a little bit of time exploring Roseau.
Later we make our way to a lake high up in the mountains, called Freshwater Lake where we fly the drone to get a better view.
Lastly we head to Trafalgar water falls to view the two side by side waterfalls affectionally known and mama and papa.
ABOUT DOMINICA ????????
Dominica is a mountainous Caribbean island nation with natural hot springs and tropical rainforests. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is home to the volcanically heated, steam-covered Boiling Lake. The park also encompasses sulphur vents, the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls and narrow Titou Gorge. To the west is Dominica’s capital, Roseau, with colorful timber houses and botanic gardens.

180 Days in Dominica Ep2: Nature Island
180 Days in Dominica is a mini docuseries based on a Canadian's view on a beautiful, but rather unfamiliar island in the Caribbean. This episode is based on a few of the island's famous tourist destinations: Emerald Pool & Boiling Lake.
