Kamchatka Tours | Mountain Ranges, Lava and Active Volcanoes
Experience the home of 29 active volcanoes, trek across lava fields and sweeping mountain ranges. Kamchatka is truly one of the most remote places on earth with no road connections. Perhaps the most ideal way to travel Kamchatka's great distances is by helicopter to experience it's otherworldly landscape.
You can land next to Kurilskoye Lake to observe the famous brown bears, or take a fly-over across the Valley of Geysers for an incredible bird’s eye view of the kind of bizarre and beautiful primitive landscapes that make Kamchatka so wonderous.

Outdoor toilet on volcanic soil at Klyuchevskoy Nature Park in Russia
Klyuchevskoy Nature Park is located in the southern part of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. Like most parks and recreation areas (around the world) the toilet accommodations can be pretty basic!

Deep inside Gorely Volcano near Petropavlovsk in Kamchatka, Russia
Gorely Volcano, located near Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka, Russia, was active at the time I made this recording but still accessible. If you look closely into the fumarole, at about 0:35, you'll see hot magma glowing red in the lower left portion of the hole...
The Kamchatka Peninsula is located in far eastern Russia well north of Japan. MY CMC friends and I took advantage of numerous hikes in and around the volcanoes located in that part of Kamchatka.

Kamchatka - Starving
ROVING REPORT 9910
RR9910/A - KAMCHATKA: STARVING
(Dur: 9 mins 45 secs/ English sot: 31 secs/ Russian sot: 1 min 42 secs)
The Kamchatka peninsula in far eastern Russia is one of the world's great wildernesses and consequently an often highly inhospitable region in which to live. During the Soviet era life there was heavily subsidised because of the region's importance as a fishing zone and military area. But post-communism, Kamchatka has largely had to fend for itself, which has led to shortages of food, medicines, fuel and money. Some people are starving, some are driven to despair and the Red Cross has launched an international appeal. But even the Red Cross can do little about two more of Kamchatka's problems - volcanoes and earthquakes.

A typical view of the Karymskiy volcano as viewed from a tourist helicopter en-route to the Geysir valley. Mind, that the company which runs the helicopters on this route is highly unreliable and tend to forget people in the wilderness after charging the customers exuberant prices.

SUMMARY
=======
The Kamchatka Peninsula (Russian: полуо́стров Камча́тка, Poluostrov Kamchatka, IPA: [pəlʊˈostrəf kɐmˈt͡ɕætkə]) is a 1,250-kilometre-long (780 mi) peninsula in the Russian Far East, with an area of about 270,000 km2 (100,000 sq mi). The Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk make up the peninsula's eastern and western coastlines, respectively. Immediately offshore along the Pacific coast of the peninsula runs the 10,500-metre (34,400-ft) deep Kuril–Kamchatka Trench.
The Kamchatka Peninsula, the Commander Islands, and Karaginsky Island constitute the Kamchatka Krai of the Russian Federation. The vast majority of the 322,079 inhabitants are ethnic Russians, but about 13,000 Koryaks (2014) live there as well. More than half of the population lives in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (179,526 in 2010) and nearby Yelizovo (38,980). The Kamchatka peninsula contains the volcanoes of Kamchatka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

KAMCHATKA (by Kailas Viaggi)
KAMCHATKA
